09.08.2019 Tasting with the usual suspects and our own bottles. Notes Light to medium dark in colour. Nose Wood, roasted, light smoke, dried fruit, cherry, faint chocolate, light medicinal. Palate Light, smooth, wood, light roasted, fruits, cherry, light citrus, spices, raisin, light medicinal, light caramel. Finish Medium long, light, wood, faint chocolate, light coffee, raisin, light medicinal.

Little pleasure initiation to start my holidays well: SAMAROLI Demerara Dark Rum 1988 Single Cask 75cl / US Import A 1988 vintage Demerara dark rum from an unnamed distillery, bottled by Coilltean Spirits, the bottling arm of Italian firm, Samaroli. Bottled in 2013 from single cask #5. 508 bottles and 45% Imported to the US market by Domaine Select Wine Estates, NY. I found this: Roasted, chocolate, tobacco, nuts, not too much spice, vanilla, mango and a nice woodiness. I like this "old-time rum" side, I almost want to say it's a blend of Enmore/Versailles/Diamond... with a touch of indulgence on the very ripe fruit (like Uitvlugt but without the coconut).... but no. It's really a single cask 😄 On the other hand, like quite a few old bottles from the time when there was always a cork stopper, it broke in the neck when opening 🙃
