03.01.2020 In a cottage with friends for the weekend with a few bottles of rum. Notes: Medium to dark in colour. Nose: Intense, wood, roasted, raisin, citrus, light rubber and tar. Palate: Light, oily, wood, light smoke, cherry, light rubber and tar. Finish: Light, medium long, wood, light rubber, raisin, faint chocolate.

... Caroni is a distillery from Trinidad, producing rum at the height of its fame, which was added in a ratio of 1:10 to naval blends. It was too strong and strange to be pleasant on the tongue. In 2000 the distillery ended production and was closed. Only in 2010 did tasters appear who liked the rum precisely for its special taste. And interest grew. Caroni belongs to the category of rums "you need to try before you die." I recommend it, Caroni is really a unique rum.

Silver Seal – Caroni 1997 – 16 years – 46% Distilled in 1997 at Caroni and bottled in 2013 after 16 years of aging, this single cask No. 16 was limited to only 290 bottles. For once, the blind tasting didn’t do too much damage! 😅 The Caroni DNA was definitely there and fairly easy to identify, but in a particularly civilized version thanks to the 46%. A pleasure rum, easy to drink, that especially lets us continue our theme for this season: Always a little touch of Caroni! ❤️
