Toasted coconut and vanilla lead here, backed by butterscotch, milk chocolate and a little orange peel — one taster even said it's "almost like there is cream in it." It's a soft, rounded Barbados profile (several members peg it as Foursquare) that goes down easy. The sweetness is the sticking point: dosed at around 12 g/L, it tips toward cloying for some.

Retasting at Romdeluxe. Had a relaxing online tasting yesterday and it had a vide spread between low and high end rums. This is definitely a rum good for beginners.

Bottle Market Bremen October 2024. The first rum of the day, a pretty nice Rum Nation Barbados. Has a nice fruity nose, coconut stands out. On the palate also fruit (coconut) and some sweetness.

👃 spices, vanilla, cinnamon, toasted coconut, soft caramel, milk chocolate, dried fruits, apricots, citrus, raisins, burnt oak. 😋 Ah, here it is, the note of toasted coconut. Roasting of chocolate, soft vanilla, quite a bit of dried fruits, banana, candied citrus. A pretty indulgent buttery caramel. A dark side (still light) of burnt wood. It remains quite soft and simple. ⛳ Wood, caramel, chocolate, herbal, but it's mostly light smoke of wood, cigar, grass smoke, even a slightly peated whisky side that surprises me in this finish. 💡 I tasted a Foursquare ECS after the tasting evening, we're clearly not in the same world. This selection has the distillery markers but very light and thin. You have to look for them in the glass.

A light Barbados rum, whose nose opens with typical notes (caramel, vanilla, spices and fruits, especially coconut) that are not too exuberant. Very smooth on the palate, with notes of caramel, coconut, orange zest and mild spices. The finish, moderately long, offers earthier notes with tobacco and a smoky hint, all balanced by wood, caramel and chocolate. A sweet rum, made to introduce something different than the Hispanic profile without straying too far.

Unfortunately way too sweet for me due to the dosage. No edges or corners at all. But for beginners a very easy-drinking rum. Vanilla, orange, coconut. Not my thing unfortunately, but maybe good with a dessert.

This Rum Nation Barbados 8 years is a relatively simple rum, but very pleasant. The nose is light, woody and fruity. On the palate, the light side also stands out, with fruity and sweet notes. The finish, medium to short, is fresh and woody.

Very round rum. Not special on the nose, only after a while some fruit emerges. Sweet on the palate, goes down like butter. Caramelized fruits remain. Overall very pleasing, certainly a good beginner. Personally, I don't necessarily need it.

Rum Nation Barbados 8 Y – 40% A Barbados rum without mention of the distillery (but given the coconut profile, it strongly suggests Foursquare). Aged 8 years in a tropical climate, bottled by Rum Nation at 40% in 2019, so vintage 2011. You find vanilla, orange, and coconut. Unfortunately, it's way too sweet for me (12 g/L). Maybe suitable for beginners who want to explore something other than Rons without straying too far. But for me... straight to the spit bucket.

Fairly mild on the nose. Tropical fruits, spices and a little flora. A bit sharp alcohol too. Fruits and spice start followed by a cocoa-influenced cask finish. Definitely a nice glass. But without great depth and nuance.

Tar and burnt tires, rotten bananas smell. Some oak. In the mouth a softer vibe of vanilla and coconut. Lots of personality here. Dark golden pour. Medium finish. Some bitterness. Dosed like many Rum Nation rums. Had a glass at Honi Honi in Edmonton.
