Super complex! Great Versailles with a deep, woody, slightly bitter, spicy Black Tot note! Tasting on 13.10.23: unfortunately there is virtually no other 86 Enmore for comparison. Charles has solved the mystery behind the rum. In terms of taste, this must be a KFM! It's quite similar to the Flensburg 91, but much fruitier due to the shorter ageing period. An excellent rum that is second to none!

A very fine greeting from the old enchanted forest. More precisely: from the forest floor overgrown with berries. Yes, that must be a KFM! I only knew it from 1991, so I poured myself some of the RX7441 for comparison. Et voilà: clear similarity. However, the Silver Seal is much deeper, rounder and fruitier. A really great drop (for KFM lovers like me)!

Comment 09.02.2025: Another Guyana rum that totally thrilled me. In crosstasting it clearly outperformed the Enmore/Versailles from 1988-1992. Nevertheless, I had the feeling that my notes didn't do it justice. Today I think: what the heck, out with it. There was no other rum I had to think about as often last year as this one. My absolute favorite. And once again, thanks to Stefan! Original 08.06.2024: Crosstasted with the FRC 1992 MEC, Idr 1988 Guyana, FRC 1991 KFM #2, Nobilis 1991 KFM and the RA 1994 REV #1. The profile corresponds most closely to the 1988 Idr, but is several classes better. It is probably a MEC. The nose is typical Versailles with wet wood, lovage and dried fruit. The nose is a little restrained at first and needs a little time to open up. The mouth, on the other hand, is an immediate revelation. The essence of a crumbly, dried fruit compote of red fruits with the vegetal notes of the nose.

90 points. All the classic Enmore markers are present with a lovely tobacco note in both nose and mouth. Add some earthiness, coffee, leather and a pleasant bitter note and you have a very good Enmore.

A dream for every sniffer! In the nose first massive solvents. Once you've absorbed them, delicate notes of wood, licorice, spices, dried fruit, etc., come towards you underneath. Exciting! In the mouth a lot of wood, a lot of spices, overall very, very complex. An iconic bottle.

Class Versailles. For me, just behind the RA 1985. I like very much. Alcohol perfectly integrated, very quaffable by the. Good umami, has properly stimulated the salivation.

Wow. What a Versailles. An overwhelming nose. Super complex with notes of licorice, pencil, barrel, herbs and caramel. A great taste. Perfectly integrated alcohol with a pleasant honey sweetness. Coffee, leather, dark chocolate and raisin. And a wonderful finish with lots of caramel. An outstanding taste experience.
Review by Jakob
Very nice interplay of aromas of licorice, leather, mineral notes, tobacco, wood, dried fruit, sweet caramel and tart spices. Aromatically extremely complex, I finally miss a touch of balance, but this verdict results from the comparison with the absolute top class of Guyana rums.

A harmonious, well-balanced Enmore, with fruity heaviness on prune and raisin, abundant spice on licorice, anise and cinnamon, intense oak and herbaceous, tobacco and earthy notes that come through strongly. Notes of baked caramel, toast and cola add roundness to an already enchanting profile. The palate has great depth, with lovely heavy, fruity notes. From aromatic herbs to dark, roasted notes, spices (salt, licorice, winter spices) and cola, molasses and baked caramel, this profile boasts a splendid, complex structure that will delight fans of the genre. The alcohol is perfectly integrated. The finish is long and ravishing. The overall profile is the same as on the nose, with roasted and woody notes, spices and dried fruit, with more herbaceous and earthy notes in the background. The finish glues the teeth together to prolong the gustatory pleasure. A superb Enmore, for which it would be interesting to find rum of the same vintage to compare at a higher level.

This is a very nice Enmore. We'll balanced and intense at the same time. Nice partly heay roasted wood notes in very good balance with the dried fruit and leather. I noticed that the licorice and chocolate becomes more intense in the empty glass within an hour.

A great mature Demerara at the start of the year. Raisins and sherry on the nose, tobacco, herbs, and everything somehow framed by 'grandma's old closet'. The palate is leathery, toasty, slightly bitter. The finish is again spicy, beautifully long with coffee and caramel sweetness.
Review by Benoit Mahe
The nose is very complex and has a lot to offer. The palate is fresh and quite tobacco. The finish is long and slightly bitter. This rum succeeds in the tour de force of starting from a profile that I might not have liked and making me find it delicious. Everything is well mastered and balanced. The sides of the Versailles that I might not like (herbs and bitterness) are perfectly proportioned and melted into a very pleasant whole.

A cracker! 🧨 Thanks Stefan for the sample. A strong old Enmore Versailles: dark and ripe with lots of raisin, earth, tobacco, licorice and hearty spicy dirtiness ... actually not dissimilar to the KFM profile - this one is perhaps a little more caramel-sweet, fruity and less bitter. A rum just to my taste.

Now that's a hell of a performance. Full of flavor, great!

Einer der Besten Versailles überhaupt für mich. Erstaunlich nahe am FRC KFM 1991-2021, aber vermutlich auch eher ein KFM. Aber noch etwas geiler und geschmeidiger.
