Rubber, solvent and a mechanic's-workshop smell hit first — the classic Caroni petrol signature — but this one leans fruitier than most. Overripe tropical and red fruits sit underneath, with tar, coffee, burnt sugar and a cooling mint streak on the palate. The oily finish clings for ages. At 62.6% the heat shows, and a couple of tasters felt the alcohol wasn't fully tucked in.

I was lucky enough to taste this rum directly from the person who bottled it! A very elegant caroni where its usual tar and medicinal notes are mixed with sweeter notes of fruit, cream and chocolate! One part that I have not encountered in any other caroni is the hint present of yeast that is also slightly noticeable in the taste!

I don't know what to say. But this Caroni is really great;-) Nice rubber, solvent and dirt on the nose. Typical Caroni on the palate. Very medicinal, rubber, tar and leather are recognizable. Wow, 1a :)

29.01.2022 The big Caroni tasting with old rum buddies, good food, snacks and a lot of talking about old times. Notes Dark in colour. Nose Round, wood, light roasted, fruity, pineapple, workshop, light mint, faint floral. Palate Fresh, wood, light smoke, fruits, leather, mint, naturally sweet, floral, workshop. Finish Long, medium dry, wood, citrus, light chocolate.

A rum tasted at Whisky Live Paris in 2025. A first nose dominated by the mechanical workshop, but very ripe fruit and prunes are not far off. Whoo! The palate is powerful, with mechanical workshop present but refined, and the overripe fruit comes in just behind. A touch of toast and coffee add further complexity. The finish is looong with mechanical workshop that lingers even longer. A rare rum and a fine discovery.

Compared directly with the Wild Parrot Caroni “red,” this one is fruitier and more expressive. On the nose, there’s more roundness on exotic fruits, caramel, and burnt sugar. More indulgent notes of milk chocolate, vanilla, and mild spices accompany the petrol and solvent facets this profile offers. A pleasant, gourmet, and intense nose. The palate gives a boost to the profile by offering even more fruits, notably exotic and red fruits, which blend well with leather, menthol, and medicinal notes. Coffee, burnt sugar, and terpenic flavors add opulence and elegance to this oily and powerful but well-rounded profile. The alcohol is superbly integrated. The finish is very long and clings to the palate with tarry and rubbery aromas, fruity, toasted, and caramelized. The wood and coffee come afterward but play a minor role, leaving the show to exuberance and roundness. A superb Caroni, very drinkable and more varied than its cousin with the red label, much more concentrated.

Surprisingly very beautiful release from Wild Parrot. Again a very technical nose, which I have been seeing often lately in Caroni 1998. Slightly sweet, yet very technical and with a slightly minty flavor profile at the end. Perfectly integrated alcohol and a long warming finish. WLP 2025

... Caroni is a distillery from Trinidad, producing rum at the height of its fame, which was added in a ratio of 1:10 to naval blends. It was too strong and strange to be pleasant on the tongue. In 2000 the distillery ended production and was closed. Only in 2010 did tasters appear who liked the rum precisely for its special taste. And interest grew. Caroni belongs to the category of rums "you need to try before you die." I recommend it, Caroni is really a unique rum.

Nice HTR profile with still quite noticeable alcohol. The aroma spectrum is very lively, wood, spices, toffee, and the typical heavy notes for Caroni come through nicely. I give slight deductions for the not entirely convincing alcohol integration, but overall I quite like this release.

💥 Enmore 1994: a slap! Everything fits wonderfully, with an incredible length on notes of raspberry and blueberry. Clearly the best REV 1994 I've tasted so far — my big favorite of the tasting ❤️ Just behind, the TDL 2002, perfectly balanced, unfolds a superb peach thread. A real treat! 🍑 Interesting comparison between the two Caroni 1998, with a preference for the red label. The white label even presented some notes... of smoked ham 😉 The Savanna 2007 remained well concentrated and aromatic, the New Yarmouth 2009 offered a nice length on a slight woodiness, and the Diamond 2001 seduced with its gourmand and pastry side, reminiscent of an El Dorado Skeldon. In summary, a very nice series overall, except for the Fiji, with a really too atypical profile — clearly the least convincing of The Wild Parrot bottlings tasted so far.
