Vanilla, pineapple and mint. In the nose also coconut and candied orange. No enormous complexity, but a good taste and a good body.

#6743 04.05.2026 Running a few samples after my 54 km bike ride. Listening to some nice tracks by Middle Mode, Spinal Fusion and Olly James. Surprisingly good rum when looking at the price tag. Light fruity with caramel, nutts, spice and coffee.

(Ported review from Rum Ratings) I have a rather unpopular opinion here, but I think this rum is at least an 8 out of 10. It may not be a typical rum as you know it. Especially the aging in smoky ex-bourbon barrels and the 55% make it something very special. If you don't like whisky, this is probably not for you. But if you like whisky, you should definitely try it if you get a bottle. The color is rather light. On the nose I perceive caramel sweetness, vanilla as well as slight peaty and smoky notes. On the palate it loses some of the peatiness, but you can clearly taste that whisky barrels were involved. Of course, the high alcohol strength brings a strong alcohol smell and a decent sharpness. Nevertheless, this is one of my favorite rums in my shelf.
