Enmore RA Guyana Rum 1990
Wood, green tea and licorice up front, with grapefruit-leaning citrus and a thread of light smoke that builds as it sits. This is a 24-year-old Enmore single wooden pot still at full 61.2% — herbal, dry and earthy, with a metallic, slightly medicinal edge a few tasters note. Most found it complex and well-balanced; one reviewer flatly disliked it, so it's not a sure thing.
- Complex wood and citrus
- Long spiced finish
- Old pot-still character

Nice relaxed Enmore. However, there are balanced notes of fruit, foral, spice and wood. Bright fruits such as pear join green tea with a licorice and aniseed finish. The slightly smoky taste rounds it off.

31.12. 2019 Last tasting of 2019 went into 2020. Celebrating with family and friends who like rum we ended up having a great party according to my notes. Notes. Medium dark colour. Nose: wood, fresh, light smoke, spice, licorice, raisin. Palate: wood, roasted, dry, earthy, licorice, plum, faint caramel. Finish: long, spicy, wood, roasted, anise.

Comes across a little more edgy than the Our Rum & Spirits bottling in direct comparison. Overall, however, they are naturally close to each other, which should come as no surprise given the key data. Both impress with a complex profile with yellow fruits, subtle sweetness, green notes (here more thyme than green tea) and a portion of smoke, which is somewhat more dominant here. High level, although the OR&S has the edge for me.

Lots of citrus notes and some caramel on the nose, plus old cellar, musty, wood and a slightly medicinal, metallic note. On the palate there's a lot of wood, tea and citrus, possibly something along the lines of grapefruit, together with a certain bitterness. After a while in the glass, the citrus fruits become more prominent.

Very good Guyana rum from the house Eum Artesanal! The nose is dominated by herbal notes, plus wood and maybe even a little pencil. On the palate, the nose solidifies, but becomes heavier, fuller-bodied, more intense. Dark notes dominate, especially wood, but also some citrus and again a hint of pencil. Great rum, which was a real treasure especially at issue!

"Disappointing and definitely not the greatest Demerara you will ever try. I am grateful that I was given the opportunity to try this particular rum. I wouldn't totally discount this bottler in future - it is never fair to judge an Independent bottler on one failed experiement."Read full review →
