I pour this rum after having a Barbados evening yesterday and had to double-check if I messed up. Very intense coconut in the nose is unusual for Trinidad. On the palate, it's a very, very sweet profile, again with coconut and after a while, a little bit of technical notes somewhere in the back. Medium finish, alcohol perfectly integrated. Interesting.

This rum offers a decent profile, but it falls short of expectations considering its age and potential. The nose is pleasant, showcasing vegetal, herbal, and fruity notes, complemented by coconut, dried figs, and a hint of pineapple. However, the palate doesn’t quite deliver a memorable experience. While the flavors are balanced with subtle coconut, vanilla, and woody undertones, the overall impression is somewhat ordinary and lacks a distinctive element to captivate or impress. The medium-length finish continues the theme with a mix of dried fruit, vanilla, and caramel, but it remains unremarkable. This is not a bad rum by any means; it simply feels too generic and forgettable for what it could have been.

🥃 The Nectar Of The Daily Drams Trinidad 1991 – 51.7% When you say Trinidad 1991, you immediately think Caroni... but no! Here, it's a vintage from Trinidad Distillers Limited (TDL), producer of Angostura rums. Distilled in column still in 1991, aged 25 years in ex-bourbon, bottled in 2016 at 51.7%. Nose: very typical rum, with vanilla and especially caramel. Some tobacco nuances and a fruity touch (banana). Palate: we leave the rum style to approach a Barbados profile: coconut, vanilla, and wood. Finish: relatively short, quite simple, on vanilla-caramel and dried fruits. A decent rum, but a bit disappointing when you read "Trinidad 1991" on the label...
