What surprises people is the heat: for something this sweet, a few tasters get a real sting on the tongue before caramel smooths it over. Otherwise it's the classic A.H. Riise playbook — vanilla, toffee, butterscotch and a candied fruit note some love and others read as marshmallow or bubble-gum. Sweet enough that several call it dessert more than rum.

This A.H. Riise tastes exceptionally good to me. It smells of roasted wood and vanilla, tastes of fruits and caramel. Slightly sharp in the finish. As with many of this brand, it was heavily sweetened here as well. But I find it very tasty and have already ordered a bottle.

14.12.2025 Day 14 of my Christmas Calendar. Still find it too sweet for me. -------- This is definitely a rum for the fan base of A. H. Riise. Sweet like the usual rums from this company. The nose is sweet and fruity with a tad of smoke and mint. The palate is very sweet and the fruitiness continues from the nose. Creamy charred mint and vanilla. The finish is short to medium long and sweet with orange and oak. A tad too sweet for me but it will probebly have a huge fan base out there.

Try ONLY two samples. Not bad, good fotlr everybody eho likes a.h. riise. Sweet, but not asi much asi other a.h. riise. Dont want buy a whole bottle, but every sample is a way to rum world. Definitelly Sweet experience.

I think, after the EU law reform, it can only be sold as a rum base today. There's quite a bit of sugar in it.

7,5:On the nose, there's a certain heaviness of very ripe fruit at first. But the profile soon becomes rather light, though gently spicy. Exotic wood and vanilla show signs of opening up and amplitude, then the rum reveals all its love of confectionery, with fruity bubble-gum and marshmallow.With aeration, the woodiness now seems sweet, but still exotic because it's also spicy. The rum is tart and powdery, like candy. 7,2:On the palate, the rum is thick and syrupy, with a slightly creamy vanilla/strawberry sweetness. The spices, which have been discreet until now, suddenly heat up the palate to the point of stinging the tongue. Caramel then takes the edge off. 7:On the finish, there's a sweet little lemon candy and a slight burnt touch, like a memory of that spicy phase on the palate...

The A.H. Riise 175yr was so far one of the best rums I have drunk. Light spiciness with versatile fruit, white tea and light anise on the finish. The rum was a bit oily which I really liked. Definite buy recommendation!

Bernsteinfarben. Geruch nach Orange, Zitrusfrüchten und sehr künstlich. Geschmack sehr süß. Viel zu süß... Orange, künstliche Aromen und Zuckerwatte. Bleibt klebrig und künstlich im Mund. Leider so gar nicht meins.

Somewhat better than other AHR. In the nose I feel cookies, more alcohol, citrus and generally tropical fruit, exotic wood, citrus, vanilla, butter and a subtle nutty taste is then felt after wetting the tongue, then the initial strength of the alcohol fades and a sweet taste remains, creme brulee, citrus... The finish is sweet, spicy taste prevails, overall aftertaste is pleasant 🙂

Anfangs süß und nach weihnachtlicher Bäckerei, mit viel Karamel und Butter etwas Rosinen. So dann auch im Mund und im Abgang. Frucht schwindet Karamell überwiegt mit süße immer mehr. Die Süße Buttrigkeit bleibt lange am Gaumen haften
