#4740 07.06.2024 Found a nice secluded spot in this moving dune to enjoy a few samples. Nose Intense, fresh, wood, light smoke, sugarcane, light coconut, faint honey, banana. Palate Intense, wood, light tannins, fruity, light banana, light coconut, roasted. Finish Long and warm, wood, roasted, faint honey, tannins, light fruits, dry.

Really a good bottling from Mhoba with a really good Price per value rating. Awesome pairing of esters with a lot of oak with some hints yellow fruits and licorice. The alcohol in integrated very well.

Toller Rum. In der Nase kommen einem direkt die (überreifen) Früchte entgegen. Außerdem kommen einem Holz, Vanille und Ester entgegen. Am Gaumen bleibt er sehr fruchtig. Ester ist gut erkennbar, außerdem holzig und würzig.

tasted together with the Habitation Velier and the Glass Cask. The FAQ is much more brute than the Velier, with a more pronounced Äppelwoi-Vinegar note. The Glass Cask is even more intense than the FAQ. With the FAQ, a nice aniseed cookie note is added after a while. On the palate, the Velier is a bit more floral than the two competitors, but both bring a nice, long spicy-sweet finish. My favorite of the three remains the Habitation Velier. It is not as intense, but is the most balanced/coherent.

It seems I am drawn to funky Rums, this one is very nice indeed. I had it breathing for quite some time in my cabinet, and got quite a nose already when opening it to get the glass. Tastwise intense and lovely, with the alcohol being integrated very nicely, giving tongue, mouth and stomach a nice warm feeling without any burn.

Alors mhoba et moi c'est toute une histoire. Le strand 51 (ou 101 je sais plus trop) m'avait fait découvrir la marque. J'avais vraiment pas du tout aimé. Puisqu'il n'y a que les imbéciles qui ne changent pas d'avis j'ai souhaité profiter du Rhumfest pour goûter autre chose. Verdict : c'est mieux que l'autre (=plus dans mes goûts) mais je n'ai pas vraiment accroché non plus. J'aurais au moins essayé...

Compared to the Frensh Cask I find him in the nose more coherent, a bissl less esters, more caramel, I would say rounder. Taste-wise, he has to rank behind him, he is too bitter for me. Possibly I evaluate my Rums alwaysein little too low, but that's because I'm still waiting for the right grenade. 😉

Druhá moje zkušenost s mhobou. Významně méně bolestivá, než ta první. Pořád tam je lepidlo, pořád tam je těkavej alkohol, ale už si neříkám, že to je zkažený. V chuti klasická kanagonová mhoba hrmejivá až do bříška.
