12.11.2025 Retasting and I still find it pretty good. ---------- When picking up my new Plantation Extreme 3 ITP today I was offered this one to sample. Guess that having a large collection does sometimes pay off. This is a very impressive rum from Bristol Classic. There can be no doubt that this is a Port Mourant Rum. Extremely well balanced, complex and it just sets your palate on fire with wonderful expressions. Unfortunately a very rare rum, but none the less a masterpiece.

An uncolored and very old Port Mourant, a rare sight. And another representative that shows how little the bottlings of the time have to do with representatives from the 1990s or 2000s, even without caramel. Although the similarities to current bottlings are greater in this case, it still differs enormously and has more parallels to the sophistication of the Port Mourant from the 1970s. This one plays with an enormous and elegant fruitiness and floral notes. Very round and balanced and in the mouth very sweet, drinkable and uncomplicated. It's a shame that DDL no longer produces anything really comparable in the Double Wooden Potstill
