The nose has heaps of molasses and raisins. There's something mineral in the background and cinnamon comes out after further nosing, some charred notes from the bourbon barrel is also there. The palate is very light and pleasant to drink. I hate to say smooth but......smooth. Less fruit than the nose, a good amount of sweetness. There's some tobacco but not bitter, almost a caramelised tobacco. Milk chocolate and cinnamon are also present. The finish is short and keeps the sweetness and cinnamon from the palate. For the price this is an top class rum. Similar in price to quality to Plantation Original Dark. Something that should be tried.

Tasted this rum recently when I visited the Saint Lucia Distillers (SLD). It’s a blend of 3yo column still rum and 6yo pot still rum aged in former bourbon barrels. The nose is fruity and spicy with scents of pear, papaya and cinnamon. At the palate it’s smooth, complex, fruity, nutty, woody and spicy with flavors of tropical fruits, hazelnut, oak, cinnamon, chocolate and tobacco. The finish is rather long and smooth with flavors of caramel and butter.

The scent was better than the taste. Molasses, and maybe the caramel they add to it. For me, the flavor was just a lower mid-range, rum, with nothing standing out.
