Velier Casimir Clairin Ansyen 19 mois (Ex-Caroni) 2016
Funny thing: most people taste this blind and guess Jamaica, not Haiti — the ester punch reads like a mild Hampden until those vegetal, pickled-vegetable notes show up. Expect grass, sugarcane, solvent and a touch of honey, with a dry, woody, slightly tarry finish. The ex-Caroni cask? Most barely catch it. Casimir clairin softened by 19 months in wood, bottled at 49.6% by Velier.
- Well-integrated alcohol
- Vibrant ester funk
- Smoother than unaged

How does Velier Casimir Clairin Ansyen 19 mois (Ex-Caroni) 2016 taste?
Aggregated from 29 community reviews.
Grassy, ester-driven clairin with faint Caroni Most love the funky, grassy, ester-driven character and how well the alcohol sits. The catch: the ex-Caroni cask is faint to invisible for nearly everyone, so don't buy it chasing tar.

From an ex-Caroni cask I would have expected a more pronounced Caroni flavor, but it must be said that it ended up being aged very little. Great rum, fragrant and surely much better experts than me will be able to find more nuance in it. Very light the unmistakable tar flavor of Caroni. Velier as always, through its perseverance with the triple A rating, has released a noteworthy bottle. Velier gave me emotions that few others have been able to do.

Day 3 RumX Advent Calendar: Again blind tasted. Had what herbal in the nose, slightly dirty. On the palate light ester notes, had to think of Jamaica. Could really not assess what this is. I like.

3.12.21 Rumkalender RumX: geiles Teil. Mein erster Clairin👌🏼

RumX Advent Calendar Day 3 Honey ,green apple... Fruity Fresh Floral. In the finish slightly dirty notes but very restrained.... Alcohol great Integrated.

RumX advent calendar day 3. Not a lot of experience with Clairins. From the nose my best guess would have been something Jamaican, wrong about that. It’s very nice in the mouth, fruity and somewhat tarry with a bit of a earthy bitter finish.

A round Clairin with a delicate Caroni note! Alcohol has been gently reduced and thus a Clairin to enter

#3 RumXCalendar Blind tasting: In the nose it reminds me on a classy hampden high ester, young wood. In mouth it‘s very elegant, delicious, young with notes of pineapple, mango. The finish is short and woody. Prediction: all in - RA Hampden High Ester…. totally wrong 🙈 Alcohol is integrated well. I can slightly recognize the caroni barrel. Nose: fruity ester, pineapple, solvents, citrus, sugar cane, young wood. Mouth: Dry, delicious, elegant, peat, solvents, oak (barrel), vanilla, roasted nuts, dark chocolate Finish: dry, tannins, astrongend, peat, young wood, vanilla

Un petit bonbon bien gras

3. Sample des Adventskalender. Nase: Esternoten, Gras, leicht fruchtige Noten. Gaumen: Holz, Wurzel, Gras, Pflanzen, etwas „Gemüse“.

The short aging is noticeable, when comparing this to its unaged cousins. It still has raw power, but the sharp edges are smoother. Wonderful to sip, and I assume it is also a good mixer.

Day 3 in the Advent calendar: My first impression was Jamaica, as some esters had collected in the covered glass. Otherwise, for me, very vegetable, a bit dirty, reminiscent of graphite. In retrospect, exactly the profile of a Clairin with Caroni notes, but unfortunately I didn't think of that at all. Exciting bottling, but none of my highlights!

RumX-Adventskalender, 3.12., blind. Ganz hinten leicht alter Tabak. Sehr interessant!
