Rum Nation Savanna Small Batch Rare Rums 2004
"Wow" was one taster's first reaction, and the theme is consistent: a big, oily Savanna from Reunion with marked oak, leather and spice, plus grape and a citrus edge on the finish. At 62.8% the alcohol is surprisingly well folded in, though a few find the acidity in the tail a touch sharp. Sip it slowly — people are firm that mixing washes it out.
- Well-integrated alcohol
- Long oily finish
- Bold and complex

How does Rum Nation Savanna Small Batch Rare Rums 2004 taste?
Aggregated from 30 community reviews.
Bold, oily Reunion sipper, oak and leather Most love it as a bold, oily sipper — leather, wood and spice with heat that's better integrated than the ABV suggests. The one gripe: a sharp, slightly bitter acidic finish.

Excellent rum! Notes of wood, milk chocolate, light roast and olives with a fleeting presence of caramel and vanilla... A strong, oily rum, but with the alcohol well integrated. Long, lingering finish.

I have a hard time to place this one, really sweet in taste despite no additives. About quarter of the bottle left now and haven’t tried it in a while, but think it’s better than I remember it.

Amazingly good! Lots of grapes, alcohol well integrated.

Had a relaxing online tasting yesterday and it had a vide spread between low and high end rums. A wonderful rum that is very well balanced and you barely notice the alcohol. Lightly bitter in the finish in a good way.
Review by Florian Becker
Rum quite fruity with watts the alcohol is super well integrated with the rest we are still on a final citrus hyper pleasant..!!!!!! Very good rum

Note: Glass Cork is very difficult to remove so be very careful. On the Rocks: On the nose it has a strong Oak, Floral and Fruit aroma with pleasant spices. Taste was an immediate and strong hit of spice with leather and strong pleasant burn. Finish has a long lingering leather taste with some bitterness creeping in. This is a very exciting and unique rum… as soon as I tasted it the first words I said was “wow!”. There is some nice complex flavours happening but there is no ignoring the fact it is 62.8% and it lets you know that. Mixed Pepsi Zero: On the nose it has a mild sweetness. Taste has some sweetness that changes into a leather and slight bitterness. Finish is shorter with very mild leather notes. Mixed did wash out some of the complexity, this is a very special rum to be enjoyed not mixed.

Bold Sipper, long, lingering, cognac coats mouth and stays behind to tell its story. Do not mix
