My RumRatings review from 6 years ago: Edit 2026: this bottling was my switch to single cask bottlings without additives etc. The moment I opened the bottle and smelled it for the first time I will never forget. It opened a new chapter in my rum journey. It was a great time. Already the nose of the Artesano is wonderful. Very fruity notes of berries make it an experience and it's worth exploring the rum extensively with the nose first. When drinking, a complexity of sweet fruity notes of red berries, some mocha, and a nice woody cask note immediately shows. The well-balanced sharpness reminds you that it is not a sweet rum but lively, edgy, and offers its own character. The finish is long-lasting and marked by woody cask notes which clearly signal that the rum wants to be remembered. For me, El Ron del Artesano brings everything I expect from a rum. The Recioto finish is absolutely successful and the handmade rum is a statement for the craft of rum making. For friends of dry rum, it is a must as it comes without additives and is still full-bodied and lively. It convinced me very much. Clear purchase recommendation, especially since it is strictly limited. Those who want it even more intense should try the cask strength of this rum.
