Cadenhead's Enmore MEV 1990

Sipped neat is where this 26-year Enmore lives — it's cask strength and built for a tasting glass. Expect smoky wood up front, then pear, apple and citrus, vanilla sweetness, and that unmistakable "pencil shavings" note several tasters keep coming back to. The finish turns herbal, spicy and lightly bitter. Continental (European) aging keeps the color pale and the wood restrained rather than heavy.

This is a lovely bottle and I'd like to have on or two of them on my shelves, but unfortunately that's not an option. Very fruity with smoky wood and vanilla. The palate is sweet and lightly bitter, yum, I love it.

Holz ist hier definitiv das hervorstechende Merkmal, kein Wunder bei dem Alter des Rums. Aber der Uitvlugt gleich hat genauso eine tolle Farbe. Leckeres Dingen auf jeden Fall. I love Rum auf jeden Fall :)

8,5:On the nose, the first impression we get is a smoky wood, nutty, slightly roasted and spicy with anise, vanilla, as molasses is flowery and also brings pencil shavings. Some nice fruits are present, like citrus, apple and pear. On aeration, fruitier aspect takes the torch with orange peel, mango, banana with a help of light esters, the molasses is now fresh, grassy and herbaceous, ends with a metallic touch. 8,4:On the palate, the attack is quite soft, fruity with banana and citrus fruits when oxidized, our tasting buds might notice plum, orange, the molasses is herbaceous, vegetal with pencil shavings, some licorice, a bit bitter, later grassy, flowery, as the wood is nutty, slightly smoky and spicy. 8,1:The finish is quite thin, medium long and furry, tannic, pencil shavings still present, also herbaceous touch and mostly variety of wood notes, with faint fruits...

I když barva je strašně kontinentálně bledá, vůně je sympatická. Dřevitá, hrušková, guyanské estery, jakási chemie, možná tuha tužky. Chuť je slušný úlet. Zprvu vanilka, ale pak naskočí zábavná hořká chemická nálož. V závěru bylinky, spálené dřevo, koření a zemitost. Možná i pu-erh čaj. Tohle být plně tropické staření, tak jsem v nebi😃

Vynikající kousek. Nádhernej vyváženej kousek plný ovoce, nakouřeného dřeve. V ústech skutečně velmi intenzivní a vyvážený a zájimavě komplexní zážitek. Závěr je středně dlouhý. Moc hezký kousek, který doporučuji ochutnat. Degustační kalendář Pavla Špačka vol. 5 2025

Expert review by The Fat Rum Pirate

Not everything in this rum works. It's very complex and very interesting. The finish is probably the best part. The spiciness of the oak and the bitter zests come together nicely to give really long satisfying end to the rum. Not perfect but I enjoyed it rough notes and all....

Enmore

Avg Rating 8.8/10 210 Rums

Enmore gave the world the last wooden Coffey still, built here around 1880 and still running at Diamond. It is also one of only two Guyanese estates where you can actually buy rum distilled while the place was open: 17 vintages between 1962 and its closure in April 1994. On most Demerara pages that sentence is not true.
