The Duchess Diamond Guyana 1998
One taster called it "moje krevní skupina" — his kind of rum — but even fans admit this Diamond runs light. Expect gentle fruit, vanilla, wood and plum, with black tea and a touch of licorice if you give it time in the glass. A couple of reviewers hit soap on the palate, and it finishes softer and thinner than 50.8% suggests.

the taste reminds me of soap and that's not what I want to smell in rum :-(

12.09.2020 Nice evening with family and a few friends. Notes Medium dark in colour. Nose Spicy, wood, fruity, dried fruit, plum, light vegetal, faint caramel. Palate Light spicy, wood, light roasted, fruity, light salt, plum, light anise, light tannins. Finish Wood, roasted, faint chocolate, light licorice, plum, raisin, faint floral. Extra note Needs to rest for a long time to release all the flavours.

The aroma is quite intense vanilla, spices and fruit. In the taste it is thin and not too intense, fruit, black tea, but unfortunately too mild. In the finish, the flavour turns bitter, which is not very pleasant.

Read full review →It's pretty good. Yes it's a bit on the light side but it delivers quite a nice reasonably well balanced sipper. It's also a lot different to other rums - the Armagnac cask has brought something different to the table. You would probably buy a bottle and enjoy it but...
