20.12.2018 Enjoying samples at home. Colour Medium dark in colour. Nose Light wood, anise, dried fruit, light nutts, faint cherry, light coconut, light anise, faint apple. Palate Balanced, wood, light roasted, spice, light cinnamon, raisin, light cherry, faint floral, light caramel. Finish Medium to long, wood, fruits, light caramel, spice, light tobacco, light citrus, faint caramel.

A quite interesting rum in terms of classification. 1999 Uitvlugt. Continental maturation. Resulting in a light straw color due to slow maturation in bourbon cask. The nose impression quite reserved. Dry impression, ABV noticeable despite moderate strength. Not really convincing. On the palate light wood, light spice and very subtle cane sugar sweetness. Everything somehow reminds of an elegant single malt. Also in the gentle finish the same aromas. I'm really undecided. At first I rated it lower because of the reserved character, but over time this elegant note comes more into play.

Color light yellow. Smell leather, closet, wood, whisky, spices, clove, peat. Taste peat, bitterness, wood, leather, spices, caramel, gum, coffee. Finish medium long to long bitterness leather wood, peat, gum, coffee. Quite intense taste, in a blind tasting I wouldn't guess only 46%.
