TRC South Pacific Fiji 2001

8.6/10
Rated by Tschusikowsky, Kevin Sorensen 🇩🇰 & 19 more

Banana, glue and smoky tar lead the way here, with floral honey on the nose and a touch of artificial strawberry-banana gum. The palate flips dry, woody and spicy with anise, and the high ABV sits surprisingly well. Several tasters call it complex and well balanced, with one comparing the depth to a Rockley. A classic Fiji pot-still profile, done at full strength.

  • Complex and balanced
  • Classic Fiji glue
  • ABV well integrated

I like this bottler and I have just oddered three different releases from Jamaica. Their average quality is pretty good and the price tage even better. The nose is fruity with smoky wood, vanilla, tea and a hint of varnish. I love the cherry flavour that becomes clearer if you leave the glass empty for a while. The palate is lightly dry with smoky wood, fruits and spices. There is a lovely minty touch in there as well. The finish is lightly dry with smoky wood and a mix of fruits. Price to quality is very good.

This is my first Fiji and I'm excited to try something new. On the nose I get hit immediately by a burnt plastic or asphalt mixed with some flowers right after. Also some kind of tea and banana. The palate is quite dry, a bit light in mouth feel but quite complex. I get some berries and banana, which are overtaken by herbs and spices towards a finish. Very nice, thanks Artur for sharing a sample.

Beautiful Fiji nose. Right from first comes this floral honey sweetness, lovely. Then light and fine the glue. Cherry banana passion fruit potpourri and some artificial strawberry banana HubbaBubba gum. Quite different on the palate: powerful, bitter, full-bodied. Intensely artificial, like soapy plastic with a hint of menthol. But there's also something almost herbaceous green. And spicy it becomes, anise. A beautiful Fiji.
