Cave Guildive Port Mourant Demerara Rum PM 2005
"Blind, I'd have guessed a funky agricole" is where one taster landed, and that's the surprise here. This Port Mourant leans dry, herbal and medicinal — anise, licorice, thyme and lime over salty, metallic minerality, with just a whisper of honey-marzipan sweetness. Give it time in the glass and the classic PM wood and spice show up. Powerful but well-integrated at 54%.

Also a great rum, you can't go wrong with Port Moraunt. It has a fairly strong nose of herbs, and the herbs also predominate on the palate. It also has a hint of citrus fruit and wood. Delicious.

Nose: immediately the delicate nose of fine aged sugar, and it brings me back to childhood memories of backyard bakery, compost, and garbage in the good way. The taste brings similar feelings also with added campfire and delicate peatyness. Wonderful bottle that I don't hasitate to recommend to seasoned tasters.

Now we're getting somewhere. This one is far better than the first one we tried. Heavier in a way and far more power in the flavours. The wood and spices are there as well as the salty ocean with fruits and licorice. At release the price to quality was very good.

Klassisches Port Mourant Profil. Aber voll auf die Eins. Nicht zu viel, nicht zu wenig. Kraftvoll, beeren, trop früchte, weisse schokolad, honig. Gutes Profil und ein sehr guter Rum. Wer PM mag wird hier definitiv fündig.

Great new PM with surprising notes. At first, blind in the glass, it evokes associations with Savanna and Fiji, probably due to its medicinal notes, saltiness and a hint of eucalyptus. But then it is also quite typical, with herbal aromas, a slight woodiness and perhaps a little umami at the end. What surprises me is the slight sweetness of this rum. For me, it oscillates somewhere between marzipan and honey and distracts me somewhat from the other aromas. Not a highlight, but still a nice representative from Guyana!

Great young PM that looks older than it is. After a little time in the glass, it develops the typical mushroom notes with a little wood. I like it very much!

I was blind when I first tried a funky Agricole or overproof Fiji rum. On the nose, beautiful fruit from overripe green apples, gaia melon and papaya, as well as herbs and lots of medicine, iodine and metal, as well as relatively smoky. The taste is then extremely dry, medicinal and salty after aniseed and some lime and herbs such as sage, eucalyptus, juniper and thyme. the fruits on the nose are unfortunately hardly perceptible in terms of taste. everything is quite salty and funky, alcohol well integrated but not 100% my thing.
