Moon Import Diamond Demerara Rum 1998
"A solid starter for a Demerara line-up" is where most tasters land. The sherry cask stays discreet — nutty toffee, cappuccino, a little chocolate and dried fruit, with European oak spice tingling underneath. The nose gets the loudest praise. On the palate the reduction to 45% shows: several call it thin, soft, a touch bitter on the wood, and the finish fades early.
The community says- Nutty toffee nose
- Discreet sherry

How does Moon Import Diamond Demerara Rum 1998 taste?
Aggregated from 10 community reviews.
Elegant sherried Demerara, thin on the palate Lovely, elegant nose that the palate can't quite match — most find it too thin and short once reduced. A gentle way into Demerara, not a heavyweight.

Dommage la réduction casse la longueur car c’est très bon sinon un bonbon d’épices.

The Sherry cask's influence is very discreet and elegant here. Slightly nutty in the nose, a little rancio in the empty glass before it gets completly mild butter toffee with a picogramm of salt, Yummi!. The palate delivers toffee, Capuccino, chocolate, salted liquorice/burnt sugar with a fennel/anise mix also but more in the background making this Diamond very round. You also get the european oak's spices that brings an herbal tingling edge. The whole being well balanced till the medium finish that i find very consistent despite the reduction. A solid starter for a Demerara line-up.

23.02.2019 A nice afternoon and evening with friends both new and old. Notes. Medium dark in colour. Nose: fresh, wood, dried fruit, light caramel. Palate: oily, wood, roasted, round, dried fruit, caramel, light licorice. Finish: medium long, medium dry, wood, raisin, light chocolate.

This is a solid rum to start your demerara adventure. Very lovely nose with a good impact of the sherry barrel. In mouth it’s very soft, thin, diluted, uncomplex and unspectacular. The alcohol is integrated very well. The finish is delicious but short Price to value is actually very bad.

Tolle Nase 8/10 , Gaumen 5/10
