From the nose we guess a very greedy rum with coconut, vanilla, honey, frangipane, dried fruits and milk chocolate. The entrance in mouth is suave then we discover a heavy rum on dark chocolate, dried apricots, tropical fruits and a rather present woody. The finish is very long, dry and spicy. A serious Foursquare with a really engaging nose and a very nice finish. The whole thing is a little too oaky to be perfect for my taste.

One can directly recognize the Foursquare DNA. Compared to other bottlings, however, an uncanny complexity and depth awaits, reminiscent of tropically aged Demerara bottlings. On the palate, round, nutty-spicy, intense, multilayered with a great sweetness. Similar to the 2006 just a touch more complex. Best Foursquare so far. A real firework in the mouth - Love it!

The Foursquare benchmark - round, sweet, dangerously drinkable. Definitely needs some oxidation to fully develop; this bottling is also at its best after a few months in an open bottle. Exquisite.

For me, the best bottling from Foursquare next to the Destino drop! This rum convinces compared to the other FS with an enormous complexity! Nutty, fruity, spicy and incredibly balanced!

Edit: Got another blind tasting thanks to Jakob. From the fresh bottle that was opened especially for this, a real dream. The Swell and the Barbados 2006 Flag Series were also smuggled into the big crosstasting of the Velier bottlings. Unfortunately, it has not yet been possible to obtain a sample of the 70th. In general, it can be said that there were no major differences on the nose when flying blind. However, there are recognizable differences in the taste itself. In my opinion, however, three clearly stand out and bring up the rear.

Oh man, after completely turning my back on Barbados rum, am I becoming a FS disciple after all? 😳 This rum certainly has the potential to bring me back and convert me (which is not good for my wallet, of course). What a round, smooth drink!!! The master blender has done a great job. It goes without saying that Velier couldn't pass up such an almost perfect work. I could imagine that this rum would leave a rum newbie speechless and enraptured, even if they probably wouldn't given the price. But if you did, you would have found a new fan of high-end rums from zero to one hundred, because this rum should really win everyone over right from the start. For me, it only has one tiny flaw (apart from the price) that prevents it from being rated even higher: The rum is clearly too sweet towards the back and the finish is a little too short. However, this is more of a "nice place to live", I noticed it rather by chance when I reached for the wrong glass with a Diamond 2008 next to it for the last sip. But tasted on its own, the Destino really is incredibly TASTY! 😊

Incredibly unusual and extremely tasty Foursquare! Has almost notes of a dirty caroni, but is still very Süffig and aromatically highly intense and delicious. Absolute world class!💯👌

Update: Tasted again from the freshly opened bottle (thanks Jakob 🙌🏽): Really tasty! Finally tasted it. Really very tasty - I think the tastiest - of the Foursquares I've tried so far. Even from memory better than the equally delicious 2006. Great coconut-vanilla blend with chocolate, varnish, spice and a few tropical and dried fruits (mango). Highly complex and great on both the nose and the palate. Until now, I thought that bourbon (with or without a cognac finish) was best suited to Foursquare, but this is also a dream.

It’s about as good a Foursquare as you can get. Nothing wrong with it, a very good rum. Typical 4SQ profile, no surprises, no mistakes. Alcohol integration on point. But at the same time, for me, also not that exciting unfortunately. I expected more from it. Triptych remains my favorite one so far.

Beautiful foursquare with lots of coconut. Complex, very well integrated alcohol, great barrel maturity. Very, very lush. Almost too much of a good thing...Plenipoz and ECS 2004, however, remain my favorites

This is a slightly older tasting but I have nice notes on it. Wonderful colour with a well balanced and complex palate. Nice and intense with fruit and spices. The oak is present without being too dominant. I love the coconut flavour on the nose and palate. Extremely good rum and the price to quality at release was really good.

Exciting tasting. And overall also very tasty, although for me not quite as tasty as viellicht the reputation of the Foursquare / Velier bottlings is. With the Triptych, the wood influence was much too dominant for me. Positive memories of children's chocolate came through. With the Patrimonio, associations on the nose of Indian korma and watermelon. But sharp and dry. Principa I found very awesome at first. Nice fruit components but still FS DNA. But on the finish, the alcohol is too biting. Sassafras pleases me well. Plenipotenzario stands out for me with complexity. Very cool. But the clear winner is Destino. Fruity, harmonious, complex and very tasty! From my memory also a tick better than the 2006. Whether he is worth the money that you have to take today to hand, however, I doubt.

Preislich leider exorbitant. Für 200€ wäre das ein toller Rum.

Today I had the peace and quiet to taste a special drop. The hype is extremely high for this Foursquare. For me (as not the biggest Foursquare fan) this rum is delicious, but the price tag is still clearly too high. In my opinion, the differences to the other bottlings are too small to justify the price difference. Nevertheless, anyone who has the money and likes Foursquare should give this rum a try.

Didn't think I'd ever get to try this rum. Extremely round nose of chocolate, spices, fruit, heavy sweetness and oak. Very very good, super round and harmonious. Milk chocolate, nougat, fruit and caramel to drink = delicious to the power of ten.
