Unfortunately not a particularly good Batavia arrack representative. Very sweet and at the same time the alcohol is not really well integrated... There are definitely much better ones and generally all Batavia arrack DNA is missing here. Feels artificial and sweetened.

Mmmh, had somehow expected something else. The nose is all liquorice. Brown sugar is added on the palate, but you can really only taste liquorice. I find this rum a little too sweet.

A rum with an exotic origin but relatively standard in tasting. The nose is very sweet, with caramel, brown sugar and toffee. Some dried fruits (raisin) accentuate the sweetness, as well as relatively light spices (vanilla, licorice). A hint of coffee and hazelnut appear before a touch of freshness comes at the very end. The profile is overall quite sterile, neutral and without great depth. The taste is quite monotonous and dull, carried by sweet, caramelized, slightly fruity (raisin) and lightly roasted (coffee) notes. Some notes of spices and licorice show up but don't really convince. Although the profile is sweet, the alcohol is not so well integrated despite the low proof. A rum that is nothing sensational. The finish is not very long and just as memorable (translation: forgettable). The sweet, spicy, woody notes and the raisin pass the hot potato without wanting to take responsibility for this juice. We'll have to wait before Indonesia plays a major role in premium rum.

Interesting, the first impression is fresh, with sweetish spice. After a while I almost think I smell a Guyana rum: raisins, licorice, dark sugar and malt. Also nutty. On the palate, the sugarcane comes through more again. Quite sweet.

An interesting tasting from Indonesia, even if it’s not my cup of tea. This one spent 3 years in teak barrels then 3 years in bourbon barrels. The nose is quite unusual to me. I scent raising notes and rice in fermentation process did its job as well. On palate it’s mostly licorice.

Jetzt ein Rum aus Indonesien. Ist mir persönlich ein bisschen zu süß. In der Nase auch schon sehr viel Zucker und Toffee. Im Geschmack dann auch viel Toffee und Karamell. Nicht so schlecht aber halt ein bisschen zu süß

24 Days of Rum 2024 - Black Edition - Day 22 Erster Eindruck: unscheinbar, schwach Nase: erst schwach nach Früchten, nach 10 Minuten rauchig Gaumen: Trockenfrüchte, Vanille, Fass Abgang: warm, mittellang, angenehm würzig Gesamteindruck: spannende Entwicklung der Nase von Litschi zu geröstetem Speck, geschmacklich unspektakulär, insgesamt ok, aber nichts, was ich im Rum-Schrank brauche.

Un rhum que je n'avais pas goûté depuis plusieurs années mais que j'avais apprécié à l'époque où je découvrais le rhum. Mes goûts ont assez fondamentalement changé car je dois admettre que j'ai été déçu par cette redécouverte. C'est très vanillé, caramélisé et sucré. Quelques. Otrs torréfiées, un peu de boisé mais ça reste léger et de toute façon ultra dominé par le sucre. Dommage.

Spíš ovocná vůně, řekl bych hlavně po švestkách, trochu květiny a ty různé sudy. Plná ovocná chuť zase bych řekl do švestek, sušené ovoce a dřevo. Krátký ovocný závěr. Takový vyvážený aperitiv, který by měl být přístupný skoro pro každého.

15.10.2025 Asian rum tasting Naga at the Prague bar La Casa de la Havana Vieja with the personal presence of Sébastien Follope. Lots of spices and sweet caramel on the nose. Intense sweet tones and spices on the palate.
