Las Cabras Rumclub Private Selection Ed. 10 Don Pancho Origenes 1983

Dark chocolate, roasted coffee and leather sit on top of the usual Panama vanilla and caramel here, with a dry, tannic finish that lingers. One taster called the palate "a home run" and made it his Panama benchmark. At 61% and 36 years the alcohol stays remarkably tucked away — mild for the proof. Give it 15 minutes in the glass; it opens up slowly but rewards the wait.

Alkohol 61%? Merkt man an keiner Stelle. Trotzdem: Der parallel gekostete 21-jährige Panamese von El Ron de Artesano (RX 8150) gefällt mir insgesamt besser, weil herausfordernder, präsenter. 🤷‍♂️

Just got my hands on one of these and I don't regret it at all. An extremely dark rum destilled by Don Pancho in Panama. The 36 years have created a perfectly balanced rum that despite the high proof still manages to amaze. Leave it in the glass for 15 minutes to let it rest and maybe add a few drops of water (not needed though).

Oh my lord, this really blows the 40% DP out of the park. This is a whole different animal. This shows the awesome complexity of the wood the leather and the sugar. The nose is good but the palate is a home run. This is my benchmark for Panama now.
