Tasted again today.... Caramel, vanilla chocolate and some wood all nicely combined but for me the Bellamys is ahead at least in direct comparison. Nice light sweetness ... you can drink very well.

But he takes a long time! 🙄 Very restrained nose. But then it gets stronger and stronger on the palate. Typical old Panamese. Solid performance, for 36 years even an extraordinarily good one. Alcohol content 61%? You don't notice it at any point. Nevertheless: I like the 21-year-old Panamese from El Ron de Artesano (RX 8150), which I tasted at the same time, better overall because it is more challenging and more present. 🤷♂️

Very delicious, good balanced rum. Classic panama notes, tastes with a lot of chocolate and wood. I would say the best from panama. Alcohol is integrated very well. Nose: Mild, Delicious, Alcoholic, Dark Chocolate, plum, raisin, orange, coconut, vanilla, rosted, baking spice, sweet, cedar wood Mouth: Dry, full bodied, sharpness, elegant balanced, complex, intense, oily, dark chocolate, vanilla, roasted, nutty, almond, leather, oak, burnt sugar, dried fruits, plum, raisin Finish: Long, intense, dark chocolate, charred, roasted, woody, oak, burnt sugar

Just got my hands on one of these and I don't regret it at all. An extremely dark rum destilled by Don Pancho in Panama. The 36 years have created a perfectly balanced rum that despite the high proof still manages to amaze. Leave it in the glass for 15 minutes to let it rest and maybe add a few drops of water (not needed though).

A great representative of the Spanish style. It is complex and strong. For the long barrel aging, very mild and easy to drink. I really like the slightly malty taste. Unlike most representatives of the Spanish style, it has character and is distinctive. Great single cask.

Panama also has intense sides, especially when you give it time. On the nose clearly Spanish, vanilla, caramel and honey with a good portion of fruits, especially pineapple and coconut. However, you can already guess that this guy is not from the young and wild kind. On the palate, it clearly shows its age with various dark aromas. Wood and coffee, chocolate and other roasted notes. The finish lasts quite long and leaves a dryness on the tongue like few others. Exciting, but of course also anything but cheap...

Oh my lord, this really blows the 40% DP out of the park. This is a whole different animal. This shows the awesome complexity of the wood the leather and the sugar. The nose is good but the palate is a home run. This is my benchmark for Panama now.
