The palate is delicious. For such a young rum, it's really magnificent. Unfortunately, the length is a bit short and the nose a bit below par.

I used to admire these beautiful, hand-painted bottles from Martinique at Havana in Brno several years ago. My heart jumped when I saw the incredible collection my rum friend René has. I also thank him for the information he provided me about these rums.

Neisson is the smallest distillery on Martinique, making under 2 percent of the island's rum, and one of only two still in family hands. Run today by Claudine Vernant Neisson and her son Gregory, it distils on a 1952 all-copper Savalle still, ferments with its own native yeast, and makes what many call the island's finest white rhum. The community rates its aged bottlings among the very best agricole there is.
