Velier Bielle Rhum Rhum Libération 2020

It needs a good oxygenation time to show its potential! In this reduced-degree version the citrus and fruit scents stand out much more, with a very pleasant sugarcane garnish! Wood integrated quite well and some mouthwatering notes accompanying the whole tasting!

Grosse déception, Profil aromatique faible. Nez un peu épicé et boisé, on retrouve une note de fruit confit et de fruit séché mais c’est pauvre. En bouche rien. Un peu de vous, un peu de vanille, 3 secondes et puis plus rien. Une sensation de chaud reste et un côté asséchant. On dirait qu’il a été réduit à la va-vite avec de l’eau déminéralisé, sans qu’aucun soin ni soit apporté. Dommage.

Dried apricots, bananas, almonds. Slightly watery in the mouth, but very drinkable. Great Agricole, clearly reminds me of the 2012.

Relaxed Rhum Rhum. Does not quite come up to its excellent predecessors.

Solider Agricole

Nose mild, fruity and sweet. Besides an elusive note - possibly "earthy"?on the palate it reminds me fleetingly of Highland whiskey. The earthy note is also present here, a bit like wet musty wood.The medium-long finish brings no surprise and remains predominantly on the woody side. Does not belong to the varieties of rum that I prefer.

On the nose very fruity with banana and dried apricot. On the palate, allspice and tobacco. White to convince, despite the low ABV.

Having tried the release that hasn't been watered down I habe to admit that a bit has been lost when reducing the ABV. It will however attract more people by releasing two different levels of ABV. The nose is fruity with spices, wood and a hint of nuts. The palate is lightly dry, yet thin with fruit, wood and spices trailed by some nuts. The finish is medium long and warm with fruit, wood and spices.

Blind tasting. Sugarcane spirit, from fresh juice, not molasses. Sweet-grassy. Vanilla. Fresh fruits. Toffee oak. Sweet toasted oak. Was surprised that’s it’s Liberation 2020. Expected more French wine influence. But rum are good. Blind score was 82-83/100

Un buon rum, probabilmente a grado pieno ha più carattere e più corpo al palato. Il naso è delicato ma di carattere. Al palato in alcuni tratti del sorso questo rum manca un po’ di “corpo”, sembra un po’ leggero. Resta comunque una piacevole bevuta

Je n ai pas encore gouté l’es full proof en 2012 / 2015, ou même le 2020 donc difficile d avoir un point de comparaison, mais c est franchement pas trop mal. Un nez sur la banane, papayes avec un côté clairement épicé et un peu de fût de bois. En bouche, c est différent, de suite un côté allspice, mélangé aux fruit et épices…. On sent clairement que c est dilué…. Dommage ! La fin est moyenne sur les épices. Dans l ensemble c est quand meme bon et cela promet pour tester les autres

The nose is carried away by spices, herbal and vegetal notes, a hint of earthiness and dried fruit (apricots), with a profile typical of the region. This sweetness on the nose is echoed on the palate, with pronounced herbal and vegetal notes, hay, chamomile and freshness, followed by sugarcane, sweet spices, dried fruit and almond. The medium-length finish follows the same earthy, spicy, dry and slightly woody pattern. A linear profile that unfortunately lacks the character to really stand out.
