Demerara fans who chase the classic Enmore/Versailles wood-and-spice profile will recognize this straight away: licorice, anise, burnt sugar, coffee and charred oak, with a little banana and dried fruit underneath. Bottled at 45% by Moon Import, it noses beautifully — one taster called it "Elegance in a glass" — but nearly everyone agrees the palate turns thin and the flavors fade too fast at this strength.

Balanced, but ultimately a bit too tamed. Although, like other Moon Demeraras, the dilution here doesn’t feel watered down at all, compared to other rums from the 1990s batch it does lose quite a bit of aroma intensity. Nevertheless, it remains a very tasty rum without flaws, which only raises the question of what could have been possible without dilution.

Enmore Split by Alex. First of all, many thanks for putting together all the rums. Another good rum from the vintage, but compared to the others, I see it more in the mid-range; it’s not quite enough for the top tier.

Enmore 1990 blind tasting No.6: This bottling has too low ABV and relies too much on the spices. Therefore, it is less complex and overall somewhat one-dimensional. For me, one of the weaker bottlings.

Lots and lots of wood and lots and lots of spices! The rating is only because for my taste this rum does not excite me much.... It will definitely appeal to those looking for a lot of barrel influence in a rum! Unfortunately, continental aging in this case kind of turns off all the flavors!

Cross Tastinge across 12 bottlings of 1990 Versialles destilled Enmores. Looking at the reduced bottlings (Alamein, RN, Moon). On the nose all can hold up predatory good with the higher ABv bottlings. The RN finis is well executed, while somewhat overwhelming the Versailles notes. Still nice. Alambic with a nice basket of continental fruits and Moon delivering all classic notes beautifully. On the palate all three are very approachable with RN‘s finish again being very noticeable and present - for me a bit too intense. Despite the reduction, the Alambic carries some sting while providing intensity. The Moon bottling adds quite some sweetness, yet also noctiable burnt notes in the background.

Community Tasting Enmore 1990 VSG/MEV as a blind tasting. Rum 6 Very complex on the nose and palate but a little pale ... perhaps a little diluted. I basically like it but at the same time the dilution bothers me a bit. Community Tasting Enmore 1990. No 6. A nose of wood and burnt caramel with wet wood and a strange side that I fortunately do not find on the palate. Palate very marked by wood, wet wood, burnt caramel. The other aromas struggle to emerge. The finish is long but, like this rum, quite one-dimensional with a slight smoky side. The least good of the series in my opinion.

23.02.2019 A nice afternoon and evening with friends both new and old. Notes. Medium dark in colour. Nose: fresh, wood, citrus, banana, light smoke. Palate: light, wood, licorice, light smoke, leather, dried fruit. Finish: medium long, wood, licorice, raisin, smoke.

Mmmmh Enmore, yes you can really taste that. I find it great, even if the ABV isn't very high. Otherwise very, very roasted, coffee is recognizable, but also very smoky and charred with a pinch of wood.

Delayed evaluation of the Enmore 1990 RumXCommunity Tasting. For me, the rum is strongest on the nose. Beautiful woody and spicy notes emerge from the glass. On the palate and in the finish it drops off significantly. Somehow it tastes very watered down.

Balanced flavor profile with the classic old Enmore markers, but just too flat. The dilution unfortunately leads to a downgrade from me, but might be suitable for beginners who want to get to know old Demeraras.

An Enmore that hides well behind its sherry cask which, let's be honest, limits the damage. The nose is soft, round and shows heaviness in the aromas, especially with the sherry cask. The spices stimulate the nose with licorice, cinnamon, anise, chili, and vanilla. The dried fruits (prune, raisin, dates), burnt sugar, varnish, and roasted notes offer a generous and rather intense bouquet. A rather indulgent Enmore / Versailles on the nose. The palate is more reserved compared to the nose. The watery texture dulls the aromas and harms the tasting. We find the archetype of Enmore distilled by Versailles: lots of spices that somewhat hide the profile, some pencil shavings, dark and smoky notes that go towards leather, coffee, and burnt sugar, dried fruits, and a certain bitterness. The sherry brings indulgence but does not save the profile. A pity because the combination of Versailles aromas with sherry usually works well, but this is clearly not the most complex spirit here. The finish is consequently rather weak but some aromas remain, notably the spices, the woody and smoky notes that take over. The finish is rather thin and light but carries its share of Demerara notes with a bitter sweetness and dried fruits (dates again). Too quickly erased, this is unfortunately a rum in half tone, whose potential is spoiled by too much dilution.

No6 of the 1990 Enmore Tasting, thanks to Alex Kunath. I like the nose, it is more expressive than i.e. No5, but the tongue is thin - only immediately notes it is not cask strength. This makes the taste a bit short, the flavours seem to be gone far too soon. This makes it less in points than others, I wonder what this would have been with 5 or 10% more.

Guyana Tasting 1990 by Alex. All rums have been in the air for 30 minutes, equal rights for all :-) The Nr6 is between 3 and 4. Wood, earth and leather. Very light creaminess, but also quite flat and without any real edges. Quite boring .
