Grass, nougat and a croissant-like pastry note make the nose the star here — several tasters call it gigantic. The palate is a different story: dry, spicy and vegetal in that classic Martinique way, but light and thin, and the flavors "don't last that long." A pleasant old agricole that promises more on the nose than it keeps in the mouth.

#23rd dec RumXCalendar Blind tasting: Nose: sugarcane, pastries, floral, vegetal, grass, spicy, nutty, hazelnut Mouth: dry, light, thin, agricole, vegetal, tea, pastries, hazelnut Finish: mid long, dry, sugarcane, grass, cucumber, mild My prediction: I think it’s from martinique again, but i’m not familiar with that mix of pastries, nutty notes… approx. 40% approx. 5-10years of aging

Agricole with old wood. Spicy and grassy on the palate. The age comes through in the dryness. In the mouth, the great and intense flavors unfortunately only last a few seconds. Otherwise, it would be a good drop. Quite sweet.

A classic Agricole nose with a hint of "old", as well as grass, wood, subtle nougat! On the palate it feels light and thin! Surprisingly, it still develops a broad spectrum of aromas! The palate is strongly vegetal and musty.. somehow I also taste cucumber and unfortunately I don't like that!

I've been trying for some time to get closer to the French style but so far only with limited success. Here I quite like the nose but the rum is too settled and mild on the palate. I will keep trying.

Almost comes across as youthful despite the 17 years in the barrel. Lots of green vegetables on the nose. On the palate then clearly spicier. The 43% fits well here. Not bad, but still clearly room for improvement, for example compared to la Flibuste.

RumX Advent calendar 2022: My first La Favorite, which is new in taste but does not necessarily make you want more. Lots of vegetal aromas, also wood and spices. Fruits and sweetness are discreetly expressed.

An old rum from La Favorite that starts with a fairly homogeneous nose, combining beautiful floral notes with pastry and fruity aromas. However, the profile lacks a bit of liveliness and expression, even after aeration in the glass. On the palate, the attack is very light and the dilution noticeable. The agricole side dominates with its herbal, floral and vegetal notes, supported by a hint of spice, wood and pastry (nougat in particular). The flavors dissipate quickly in the mouth. The finish, of medium length, is slightly warmer, spicier and roasted, but retains a significant vegetal part. A traditional rum in its flavors, somewhat shy, without much surprise and from which one could have expected more for the age statement. The lack of character, impact and complexity unfortunately let it down and do not allow it to stand out from other old agricole rums.

I have never seen this bottle until it was in the tasting. A great rum with nicely balanced fruits and spices. The wood is wonderfully balanced with chocolate and roasted notes.

Very inviting nose, makes you want to try it, then tastes very tea-like. I guessed chamomile tea with a bit of honey sweetness blind. Quite round but then somehow unfortunately too thin.
