Marzipan is the surprise here — almond and chocolate-dipped marzipan run right through this El Salvador 15-year, backed by toffee, honey, milk chocolate and a roasted coffee edge. Most tasters find it soft and elegant for 47.5%, dessert-like and a little floral. It's clearly sweetened, though, and a few felt the flavor thins out fast and leans one-note.

More unusual than the others from cihuatan. Dark chocolate, sour cherry, lychee, mocha, coffee and roasted almonds. Definitely one of the best & most unusual rums from Cihuatan. Very tasty and elegant and an incredibly beautiful bottle.

Delicious specimen, with lots of caramel/honey and an awesome roasted note of coffee and chocolate. Once you identify the marzipan note, it runs through completely! Also diverse fruity (lychee/mango/orange?), subtly sweet and very round. Goes down like oil 😋 for even more points this rum would need more complexity and intensity, although I have to say there are still some components I can't quite place. You have to give this rum a few minutes to breathe. Compared to other Cihuatans, it stands out a bit.

This was more pleasant than i expected! Not too sweet, and with a nice, round scent of almond, honey, fruitcake, marzipan and some dark chocolate. On the palate i found lots of warm, round sweetness of vanilla and chocolate, finished with some red pepper and espresso coffee.

The rum comes with a very pleasant and complex nose. Besides lots of almond, toffee and buttery tones, there is also an interesting floral note. On the palate, a nice sweetness arises, reminiscent of honey. The floral tones as well as the almond notes fit perfectly. The rather spicy 47.5% provide warmth and emphasize the elegant oak aroma. Light caramel is in the background and complements the complexity of the many impressions. The not too long finish is also multi-layered and ends with floral and marzipan-like tones. A tasty and unique rum from El Salvador. Also striking is, in my opinion, the incredibly beautiful bottle and packaging. Top class.

On the nose there is very intense marzipan, chocolate and almonds. The taste is clearly dominated by marzipan, caramel and chocolate. Short finish. It's very sweet, at the same time quite spicy. It's better from a Cihuatan production.

My RumRatings review from 4 years ago: The rum is very smooth on the nose. Lots of caramel, toffee, coffee, and baking spices give a very sweet yet tart impression. Some fruity aromas also lightly come through. But there's also a bit of alcohol. On the palate, the rum is initially spicy and nutty. Cocoa and a tart note like dark chocolate are present. The rum also becomes sweeter. A distinct sharpness is noticeable, which is somewhat too dominant. The finish is again spicy with bitter notes. Here, the barrel influence comes through more. The Cihuatan Nikté is a good rum for people who like sweet rum and want some spice. It somewhat reminds me of the Dictador series in style. Unfortunately, it is heavily sweetened, though the sugar is well integrated. However, the rum is a bit too expensive at over 60 euros. The competition is fierce there.

My favourite sweet and low abv rum and favourite from Cihuatan production (I am not fond of their production beside this). I always keep around a bottle or two and use it a as dessert. Rich in marzipan throughout, sweet caramel, chocolate and vanilla notes, touch of fruits and flowers.

Very spicy rum. At first nose, great fruity notes, orange, some chocolate. On the palate, much fuller-bodied, initially sweetish, vanilla, then changes to rusty coffee-caramel aromas. Very elegant and clearly better than its younger counterparts.

I also really like the Mayan legend mentioned at the beginning, which is why I chose the photo to somewhat reference this legend. It's a very interesting, sweeter, pleasantly fruity and floral rum that I believe will please both beginners and more demanding rum enthusiasts.

It's just incredibly average and unspectacular. Even within this particular lighter style of rum I don't think it stands out in anyway. Unremarkable.
