Orange and ripe mango lead here, with honey, tobacco, light smoke and toasted wood underneath. It's warm, round and fruity, with a subtle sweetness that runs from nose to finish. Several tasters call it an easy "daily sipper" — the 50% is very well integrated. One or two felt it's so smooth and rounded it edges toward soft, but the fruit-driven finish wins most people over.

Very pleasant rum. Red fruits, but hardly the expected TDL mint. The rum is not challenging, drinks away like this, daily sipper. The really excellent integration of the alcohol should be emphasized. I bought it after carefully reading the reviews here and was not disappointed. A nice addition to my New Grove library.

#5476 12.07.2025 Late tasting with a set of friends and I'm always happy when we meet up. Nose Fresh, round, floral, light wood, light smoke, faint roasted, berries, light metallic. Palate Oily, round, balanced, light floral, wood, light berries, naturally sweet, light roasted, light tobacco, faint caramel. Finish Long, round, balanced, naturally sweet, light oily, light nutts, light caramel, light orange, faint tannins. Empty glass Fanilla, light chocolate, light tobacco, caramel, light nutts.

A nice easy-drinking rum. For the price/performance, it can already do quite a lot. Thanks to Gunnar for the journey through Mauritius. The longer it stays in the glass, the more easy-going or drinkable it becomes. Various bottlings from Mauritius were tested, split in a set to give us an insight into this country.

A really charming nose, super fruity and very pleasant. The palate a little bit reserved but still super good! A really nice bottle. I discovered New Grove with this sample and it makes me want to taste more.

Nice woody and fruity aromas on the nose, a pleasant spice and sweetness on the palate. A very successful rum with a fairly long aftertaste. It can't hurt to have a bottle of this on the shelf.

I so love New Grove. Its such a great style in between molasses rum and fresh/minty agricole rhum in taste. Lots of winterly spices and wood in the nose. Blue berry galore in the taste. A tasty red fruity feast in your mouth. Very good! People always praise Foursquare as one of the most stabile rum distillers but Grays is up there as well. Needs to be loved more. So good.

The creole girls hold the promises of the french ladies. This rum deserves more points. Very warm and balanced on both nose and palate, one of the few rums I tasted that has a fruity finish. May be to smooth and rounded, it has a wide range of tastes and flavors, a subtle sweetness from nose to finish but all so well integrated that it might lack some character?

Smell: Elegant, honey-sweet and fruity. The fruit aromas are dominated by orange and mango. Occasionally a blast of paraffin and smoke. Then again nougat, toffee and tobacco. Taste: Sweet and very strong in the mouth with honey and tobacco aromas. Spicy when swallowing with lots of tobacco, toffee and furniture polish. Juicy and very fruity taste with aromas of tropical fruits, especially mango, passion fruit and sweet coconut-pineapple mix. Then smoky and very spicy with ginger and pepper. Finish: Chestnuts and an echo of the fruit aromas. Medium length, smoky and slightly dry.

Just the aroma on the nose makes you want to try this great rum. Very fruity. Orange and mango with a bit of smoke, coffee, and tobacco. Light sweetness, not too overpowering.
