A very nice release actually. Slightly different than the last Long Pond I had, but still a very nice one. Fruity in a slightly different way. I like the strawberry that suddenly pops up on the end of the palate. Fresh, intense and oily in a few words 😊

The first impressions on the nose are glue, weak ester and vanilla, then light notes of toffee, fruits, limes and leather emerge. There are many parallels to the TRC 13y here, only that the SS seems a bit rounder and shows vanilla & toffee aromas. Despite the nearly 52%, the alcohol is hardly noticeable. The two additional years of aging and the 6% less alcohol compared to the TRC 13y are clearly recognizable on the palate. On the palate, the two are again most similar compared to all other cross-tasting candidates. Right from the first sip, apples, pineapple and bananas paired with toffee and vanilla can be detected. Toffee and vanilla are the two aromas I couldn’t find in the TRC 13y and which make this rum much more pleasant and round – the TRC 13y is rougher and edgier than this bottling. The finish is medium-long and characterized by medicine, anise, herbal aromas and leather. The noticeable higher maturity compared to the TRC 13y cannot be denied in the scoring. Nevertheless, on the other hand, I prefer the edges & corners and the higher proof of the TRC 13y better. Draw! 83 points
