Malteco Seleccion 1987
Opinions here land somewhere between "very, very tasty" and "nice but no depth." Everyone agrees on one thing: it's sweet. Caramel and dried fruit lead, with vanilla and a little chocolate, over a body several tasters call thin. One member sums it up as "smooth but way way to sweet." Pleasant sipping if sugar doesn't bother you; a few also doubt the 1987 age statement.

Sweet, thin, easy caramel sipper Most find it smooth and easy with a long sweet finish, but the recurring gripes are the same: too sweet, thin body, and a questionable age claim.

I usually don't really like these sugared Spanish-style rums and I even doubt that the age statements of the Malteco rum-line can be trusted but the 'vintages' from them are very, very tasty and I like them a lot. Update: Now too thin for me, good daily sipper though.

Almost no Guyana taste, but huge amount of sugar/molases
Review by Liviu Trifoi
It is smooth but way way to sweet. Caramel and dried fruits dominate.
