Review by abaker-rum
A very good rum with a great nose of butterscotch, vanilla, maple, and dried dates. All of these notes appear in the taste with impact from the aging in wood. This rum does skew to the sweet side, but it is easily sipable. The finish is long with spice and dried fruit.

This is the best Diplomatico there is out there. The Single Vintages is also OK but can’t really compete, but I don’t think it’s really living up to the high price, but still a must have at my Spanish shelf. Picture: My Diplomatico shelf by moment.

A rum that has been made for the uninitiated premium market, and is packaged up to suit that market. Presented very well in a nice bottle a box with cork stopper and thick glass base. On the palate is it quite one dimensional with an over arching manufactured sweetness. Chocolate, caramel, vanilla, fruits and some wood maybe? Isn't overly bad but can't be compared to a tropically aged jamaican for example. I guess it has its place in the market.

Had hoped for more... Totally overpriced, but there are also positive aspects. The nose is too one-dimensional, but in the mouth you can taste delicious berry fruits (strawberry, raspberry, raisin, plum). There is also a clear barrel note and bitter chocolate. Nice to have tried it, but never buy it!

08.12.2025 Retasting this one and I still find it pretty good, but I think the price tag is a bit high. I like that they upped the ABV a bit, but would have been even better with even more umph in it. ----------- Though this is a 94 proof it is really well balanced and you can hardly taste the alcohol. A better version of the Exclusiva with far more nuances and variety of spices.

I own this bottle and it is still really good but with its low ABV I unfortunately can’t give it more points. Again I would have loved been able to taste it before the watering down. - Couple of years since last tasting and unfortunately I have to lower this rum again from former highs. - A few more years and for some reason I like it better this time. - Long time no se, but nothing much has changed.

A bottling that wants to be premium for me, but is not. Colored to suggest age, sugared to suggest maturity. The nose very inviting, it promises an old Spaniard, which has got decent wood off, with decent spices. Here, however, also already a trace artificial, sweet (I would like to insinuate here expressly no artificial flavors, it seems, however, unrounded...). Too thin on the palate (why dilute something like this?) and again unharmonious. Individual flavors dominate, do not integrate well into the overall result. In addition, a nevertheless clear sweetness, which fights against neat wood and smooths its bitterness. For me, absolutely nothing I need to buy or even should buy. Taste not my thing and the price far from any reality....

One of the flagships from the company, although rather pricey. I found the rum very tasty, and the same did my sorrounding people, hence the empty bottle. I found heavy chocolate in the nose, but good notes of dark chocolate, dried fruits and vanilla
Review by TheJackDrop
Quelle horreur !

I was allowed to try it a few years ago and was a little disappointed. Now I'm changing my mind. Appealingly spicy/vanilla fragrance. Complex taste with caramel, honey and dark chocolate. A really good rum but unfortunately very expensive.

Interessante e complesso, con punte dolci di amarena e un finale aromatico di frutta e frutta secca

Young in my rum career, and this one is the most expensive I've had. I get cigar ash, oak. Apricot and sherry. A little polished leather. Golden amber pour. Initial bite smoothes over soon, makes this something as it breathes. More potpourri, orange peel.

Quite good but for that money I will look for others in the future

Schön komplexer Rum der entdeckt und gelesen werden will. Definitiv kein Anfänger-Rum, aber auf jeden Fall sehr gut und einer Entdeckungsreise würdig.
