"Not every rum needs to be a cask-strength bruiser," as one member put it — and that's this Mount Gay pot still. Smoke, leather and solvent up front, with vanilla, toffee and yellow fruit underneath. Full-bodied for the house, dry, with an odd medicinal/metallic streak that divides the room. A few wish it landed at 55%+ for more punch, and the finish runs short.

A nice Mount Gay afterwards. The nose is more in the sweetish direction. Vanilla and toffee are recognizable, but also some coconut. On the palate it comes across as very smoky, vanilla and burnt sugar are recognizable.

A good rum, the bottle was fun to drink. Special flavor profile. The full body is good. It has a tingling acidity on the tongue, like a battery. I also like the cherry notes.

A nice rum from Mount gay, alcahol well integrated, for me a nice easy drinking strength. I am getting fruits, mention and a certain level of smokiness. Not every rum needs to be a cask strength bruiser! Quite a short finish.

Completely contrary to expectations - very round nose with lots of fruit, honey, toffee and herbal notes. The whole is complemented by some chocolate and vanilla. A little smokier in the mouth, now with a lot of almond influence, but always herbal and fruity. The finish is also wonderful, delivering more chocolate in places, but also strong menthol and smoke. The 48% is within reason and offers intense aromas. Compared to the Andean Oak, the nose is a little weaker, but the mouth experience is better.

Very very strange distillate.... Yellow fruits, charcoal and slightly sour... I don't have to have it again... I wouldn't have expected this from mount gay. Overall disappointing for me, sorry.

Very medicinal/metallic on the nose, yellow fruit, some honey, spices, wood, diesel/petrol and caramel. The aromas are echoed on the palate. Doesn't quite get me, as these metallic/medical notes are too dominant for me.

Strangely at 48% it feels too light. Like a very watered down version of Chairmans Reserve Vendome still. Still good, but I think an ABV of 55%+ would have significantly lifted it.

Nose excellent evening spice, vanilla Club atmosphere, parquet flooring. Mouth powerful attack a little tannic spices black pepper alcohol poorly integrated or needs more aeration. Gap between mouth and nose

Extremely full-bodied for an MG, almost heavy on the tongue, but in a very positive sense. A beautiful, almost "scotchy" wood-salt-peat note with just enough sweetness and a subtle, faint sincerity. Exceptional and really good.

Official Mount Gay, limited realiz. Bottle 0625. Nose: boom ! Lot of polish, solvents, apples & eucalyptus. Great. Then, baking apples, leather, camphor, salt, melon, pecan & just a little bit of coconut. Taste: balanced, dry, complex. Dominate of eucalyptus, some mint, cardamon, apples. Then, little bit smoky leather, pears, cola. Aftertaste: long, fresh. So many eucalyptus, herbals & mint. Part of polish & apples. Amazing, tasty & great balanced rum. Good job 👏
