Sip this neat and take your time — it's a 14-year Bielle agricole that leans dark and woody, all dried figs, dates and raisins with cocoa and coffee. The grassy agricole side only shows up late in the finish, which several tasters loved. At 46.7% the alcohol runs a touch more demanding than the softer 45% blend, but it stays balanced and complex.

This is a very rare bottle released by a shop in Denmark. The quality is just up there and at the time of release the price to quality was very good. The nose has light wood with dried fruit and vanilla topped off with the typical grass notes of Agricole rums. The palate is complex and very well balanced between light wood and fruits. The grass from the Agricole notes mix very well with vanilla, cinnamon and light chocolate. The finish is long and warm with light wood and spices/dried fruit.

Epic BIELLE 2001 Tasting. A great vintage, the set was consistently of high quality. Only RX5741 and RX4918 were a bit too woody/bitter for me. There was also a clear winner, the cask selected by Kirsch was for me the most intense, most harmonious. Here was a perfect mix of wood, fruit and spices. The blend is also great, but at 45% it suffers a bit weakly on the palate. Overall, I believe this is the highest quality set I've tasted and I think you'll never get it like this again.

Bielle 2001 No. 5 of 12.. And again a first-class 2001.. very complex and more on the dark woody chocolate coffee side. And of course lots of dried fruit. Only late in the finish does the Agricole with the vegetal aromas become clearly noticeable.

"Great Bielle 2001 Cross-Tasting": compared to the 45% blend clearly more on the salty side and somewhat "rougher" the alcohol is a bit more demanding here, also there’s more acidity and more tannins. All not quite as well balanced although still extremely tasty and at a very high level. Here you find rather distinctive aromas of salty Japanese plums, as well as some rice vinegar, cinnamon and salty dark chocolate. Very good but overall ranks rather behind in the entire comparison.

So now the second round of the mega split of the Bielles from BananaJoe. Here too, I have to admit that the level is already very high, for me not a single failure among them and the differences are subtle nuances but still exciting how different they can be.

Bielle 2001 Flight: 45% - Juuls - Cherry. Starting with the 45%: Honey, cookies, fine spices, dried fruit, ripe banana, red fruits, earthy. Very fine and balanced. Nice mouthfeel. Warm, finest caramel or gingerbread. Warm and finely spicy finish. Juls Vin & Spirits Compared to the 45%, naturally stronger. Beautiful notes of yellow and tropical fruits. Fantastic wood spice on the palate, but a bit bitter. I like the finish of the 45% a bit more. And now the Cherry…🍒🍒🍒 Cookies and gingerbread, cherry and wonderful, fine spices. Most complex and very, very good. On the palate very similar to Juuls. Very nice finish. Craftsmanship absolutely top tier. Complex, warm, perfectly balanced. The single casks are a bit woodier or slightly bitter, which personally doesn't bother me. What I hardly know from any other rum in this quality are the truly intoxicating spice notes. 🤩🤩🤩 The Bielle 2001 series stood unnoticed on shelves for years, away from the big hype. Great to be able to taste through part of the series. I already had cask #2 and #8. I basically love Bielle, I can't put it into words, but at the end of the day, despite all qualities, no "must-have" feeling arises. First World Problems. 🤔🤔🤔
