Deep oak and vanilla up front, with geranium and other floral notes fighting through the wood, plus a whisper of chocolate and sugarcane. This 1986 Damoiseau agricole drinks dark, earthy and spicy — round and elegant when it's on form. A few tasters wish it hit harder; at 42% some find it "a bit light" and short on the finish.

Damoiseau’s best? It’s a pity that there’s so very few left out there. Nice nose that’s floral and woody with scents of sugarcane. At palate it’s super smooth, round, elegant, balanced, vegetal, floral and subtle. The finish is medium long.

Basically not too bad but somehow the finish is quite short. I think a few more percent would have done this bottling good. For me a bit too watery and as a conclusion still too average with a bit too much wood from the barrel.

Wow, a stroke of luck. Old bottle, cork in the rum, everything looked like a mistake. But I was able to filter the rum and the taste is spot on. Certainly on a par with the 18 brothers of these legendary 80s Damoiseaus. Again balanced, earthy, floral.

25.09.2026 Restasting and still like it a lot. ---------------- An older tasting and I'm still struggling to add my older tastings without spamming too much 😊 A very nice rum with great balance though I think the ABV should have been higher because it comes off a bit light. Still a great and well balanced rum with nice fruit and floral notes. Lightly dry palate with light chocolate at the end.

Tasting evening at Dr. Django: This is a very special Agricole... Damoiseau from the 80s. Heavy, dark and spicy, it's quite an intense rum from the nose to the finish. Alcohol is not perceptible... Many thanks to Leo for letting me have this in my glass

Great Agricole, not quite as complex and balanced as a Damoiseau 1980, for example, but still solid. For me, it's a tad too earthy and woody with a lack of fruity notes for a better rating.

A rum found at my father's... Beautiful discovery, an elegant rum all in softness and indulgent roundness. Nothing exuberant, just indulgence with a very balanced harmony... the finish is unfortunately too short... it calls for another sip.

Talking about being extremely Woody but not getting into the wood soup mess. This carries a lot of flavors like vanilla Oak and chocolate and manages to really battle itself with geranium and other floral notes to become a very herbal sweet vibrant and complex finish
