Solid Demerara with a high rarity value. Taken as a Guyana starter at the 2nd tasting. Still solid and good.

I was just surprised to see how incredibly expensive this Guyaner is at auction. It's definitely not down to the taste. The rum is delicious, but nothing more. Second tasting: -2 points (the abv is incorrectly marked on the label)

The 3rd and last sample for my vacation in Sweden. Nose: spicy and burnt, worthy of a Diamond. I got nutmeg, black pepper, also some cocoa powder and old, dry vanilla. A slight aniseed note is also nice. Dried plum lurks behind the spice. But also woody. 7.9 Palate: oh yes, spicy and burnt-roasted. And then lots of liquorice. Sweet-salty, soft liquorice. And spicy aniseed, like ouzo. A good and solid Diamond. I like it. 8.1

11.01.2020 - 12.01.2020 Splitting some samples over two days. Notes. Light in colour. Nose: Wood, roasted, plum, anise, balanced, light chocolate. Palate: Round, light, wood, roasted, dried fruit, light licorice, natural sweetness. Finish: Medium long, light, round, wood, licorice, raisin.

In terms of taste, it should be a Port Mourant. Has a lot in common with the 97 vintage. A beautifully complex rum!
