"Dirty as the clairins" is how one taster sums it up, and that's the draw here. Brine and olive water lead, then cut grass, fresh sugarcane, citrus and a bit of banana, all over an oily body. The 49% is well integrated — this drinks wild but the palate turns surprisingly colorful. Several give it air first and find it opens up.

Dirty like many Clairins. These Haitian rums are not for sensitive palates. They can be aggressive just like this Vaval, but tasting after tasting you learn to appreciate and love them. If aerated for a while it is better.

Thanks to RumTaTa. The first unaged Clairins I got to try. My first association was River Antoine Grenada. Not my favorite, but very solid. Alcohol is well integrated.

Like any Haitian stinker, this one is a must try. The aroma is fruity, citrusy, salty, cane-like. For me, it's one of the most accessible white rums from Haiti. Saltiness, fruit, cane, minerals and much more in the taste.

So Clairins are really great, I even like them slightly better than the counterparts from Martinique/Guadeloupe. It's definitely very fresh, cane, grass and olive are recognizable and it tastes slightly salty.

#6151 29.12.2025 Relaxing with a few samples while listening to some nice new Trance tracks. Nose Fresh, light sour, light plum, anise, sugarcane, light olive, faint floral, vegetal, faint pineapple, citrus. Palate Oily, fresh, olive, light salt, citrus, medium spicy, light grass, sugarcane, light floral, light ginger, light mineral, clove. Finish Medium long, oily, fresh, olive, light salt, sugarcane, light sour, clove, citrus. Empty glass Sugarcane, light florl, clove, olive, ginger.

Number 1 from the community tasting. Thanks RumTaTa! At first contact, I thought of the Rum-Bar White Overproof and perceived a very fruity profile; after the Clairin tasting, I find it much greener and more vegetal. On the palate, tropical fruits dominate along with sweet fresh sugarcane and young spices (ginger, anise). On the finish, a nice minerality and a pleasant freshness come through. Very tasty.

Exciting earthy sake notes on the finish. Very green in taste and the nose has the typical olive notes of a Clairin in my opinion where it is rather the olive water.

Dirty as the clairins, but deep and bold aromas make it very exciting, this one is a must try. The aroma is fruity, citrusy, salty, cane-like with olives and musty tones. The smell seems wild but the taste is so colorful with saltiness, fruit, cane, minerals and much more.
