#7064 18.07.2026 Relaxing around some samples with a very good friend while streaming Tomorrowland 2026. Very nice Clairin with a good price tag in my mind. Fruity profile with industrial, fruits, spice, herbal and light smoke.

Casimir 2016: Complex from nose to finish with vegetal and fruity ester notes. At the finish, a fruity dirtiness emerges, which is quite long for an unaged rum and becomes increasingly mineral. Sajous: The 6% abv shows more volume on the palate. The rum is a bit more demanding and less complex, also with vegetal notes and even more light and yellow fruits. The finish is a bit sharp with a hint of lemon cake. White Clairins are great rums! A dream if all types came in 20 cl bottles.

Had tried various Clairins once and found Casimir the most approachable. Clairins are quite special though. Nose: floral, vegetal and fruity at the same time. Sweet with honey sweetness. Artificial and fermented! I can't quite identify the fruit, maybe something that once was a raspberry? Then vinegar and esters come through before it turns vegetal: pumpkin and artichoke with pickled olive. Floral at the back with geranium and violet. Interesting but really different. Palate: initially slightly salty before it becomes spicy and herbal. Bitter in the middle, then turning greener and more mineral. I also find artichoke and olive here again. Added herbs with a slight anise note. Grassy on the finish. A very unique rum species that you should have tried...

Weird. After the first sniff, it took a while before I dared to actually taste it. A vinegar-like smell of olive juice, sour-salty and synthetic, green (Provencal?) herbs. A tiny, tiny bit sweet, salty, otherwise very vegetal (again olives and some cucumber?) and earthy (even seems a bit peaty??). All in all quite rounded. If this were someone's first encounter with rum, it could be doomed. For me, it was the first confusing introduction to the world of Clairins.
