Anyone chasing St. Lucia Vendome pot still in its raw form will grin at this one. Honey and tropical fruit lead — candied ginger, dried mango, ripe pineapple — with glue, medicinal herbs and a whiff of rubber underneath. At 53% the alcohol sits well integrated, and members note it drinks dirtier and funkier than the younger 6-year sibling. A proper sipper.

Absolutely awesome st Lucia vendome in pure form. Mega nice honey and tropical fruit note. Acacia honey, incense, candied ginger and dried mango chips and mirabelle plum jam. Quasi the ultimate sipping Vendome pot still st. Lucia! Clearly dirtier and more funky than its 6y old little brother... Alcohol content just right!

Yeah, that's a really strong one. But a rum of this quality with a screw cap?? Haha, always something new. It's definitely very roasted, but also quite smoky and woody, vanilla is recognizable.

#6145 28.12.2025 Last online tasting if the year with the guys. It's been a great year, probably one if the craziest one's ever 🥰 Met many new run friends both online and in person, travelled a lot Germany, Belgium, France and Sweden. Next year should be a bit more tranquil I hope, because I have a ton of samples 🙃 Nose Medium intense, wood, light roasted, anise, dried fruit, light vegetal, polish, light rubber, clove. Palate Warm, peppery, wood, light roasted, banana, dried fruit, light anise, anise, light smoke, light polish. Finish Long, round, warm, wood, light cherries, light banana, light polish. Empty glass Vegeral, vanilla, light cherries, banana, light floral.

Blind tasting: a pleasant sweetness in the form of honey and pineapple is noticeable on the nose. Unripe bananas followed by light glue and a combination of medicine and herbs, similar to the 2000 Long Ponds – but not identical. I like the nose very much and I would say I already know from which distillery this rum is! On the palate, the honey then fully opens up, plus there are wood aromas from the cask, which I could not perceive in this intensity on the nose. The alcohol is very well integrated and should be around ~55%. On the palate it continues just like on the nose: the honey turns into a combination of medicine and herbs – which now reminds me more of the WIRD 2000 batch than the Long Pond 2000 batch. This rum should definitely be from St. Lucia and come from the Vendom Potstill. If I didn't already have the TST Vendom 9y in mind, I would say the rum is about 13-14 years old. A medium-long finish with the same palate impressions rounds off this beautiful rum. 90 points

Here’s another quick tasting: The Secret Treasures Selection Privée – St. Lucia 2005 Vendome 🇱🇨 It’s Friday, it’s autumn break, I’m stuck at work—so a nine-year-old single cask No. 528 from the German independent bottler Haromex, distilled in 2005 on the Vendome pot still at Saint Lucia Distillers, sounds like a good plan. On the nose, this is a beautifully classic, heavy St. Lucia. Honey, pineapple, banana and candied fruit mingle with acetone, glue and other industrial notes. After a while, vanilla, plums, raisins, a little anise and wood begin to emerge. The palate is fairly thick, smooth, warm and slightly sweet. Lots of honey, citrus, apples, cherries and tons of that characteristic Vendome woodiness. Exactly how it should be! The finish is surprisingly on the shorter side. At 53%, I would have expected it to linger a little longer. Overall, this is a very successful, fruity and wonderfully full-bodied, industrial Vendome. Nine years were more than enough, and tasted blind, you could easily add a few years to its age. Bottled at 53% in 500 ml bottles. Its greatest strengths are the nose and the overall balance; the only slightly weaker point is the finish. The RumX community currently rates it 8.8/10 (RX 574), placing it among the top 10% of rums from Saint Lucia Distillers. I’m rating it a little lower. One interesting observation about the price: this bottle normally sells at auction for up to CZK 2,000 (€40), while a Czech retailer is—typically—asking CZK 6,000. I’m not saying anything, but mark my words.

The palate continues in the same way as the nose: the honey turns into a combination of medicine and herbs - which reminds me more of the WIRD 2000 batch than the Long Pond 2000 batch. But this rum should definitely be from St. Lucia and come from the Vendom pot still. If I didn't already have the TST Vendom 9y in my head, I would say that the rum should be around 13-14 years old. A medium-long finish with the same perceptions of the palate round off this beautiful rum. 90 points.
