Once again a great Bielle from LMDW, although it doesn't quite reach the quality of existing bottlings. I miss a bit of depth and complexity here. But that's nitpicking at a high level. It remains an excellent rum. Bielle 2001 No. 7... my previous rating stands.

9,2:On the nose, the first impression we get is very thick, balanced combination of woody and fruity notes as dried dates, figs, raisins, the wood is charred with leather, caramel, nuts, spices.A sugarcane is syrupy, dark with black tea, licorice, tobacco and some mint.We certainly notice red fruits from red wine notes.. On aeration, citrus is out, some flowery notes, chocolate and coffee, as bourbon ageing notes are stronger.It comes very balanced and round. 9:On the palate, the attack is delicious with charred wood notes like caramel, chocolate, coffee, nuts, later toffee and different fruits like dried apricots, prunes, raisins, figs.The sugarcane is syrupy and spicy with tobacco, flowery violet. The combination of bourbon, red wine, sauternes ageing is attacking our tasting buds from all angles. We are enjoying very balanced and round rum with juicy peaches, red fruits, berries etc. 9:The finish is very long, tasty as sugarcane is a bit waxy, earthy, still thick with black tea, flowery notes, the wood still charred, spicy.The fruits are red, citrus and dried.

Oily and heavy it comes 😄. I see dark color. First, rum should get a lot of time in the glass because it needs quite some time to open up and to tame the initially biting nose a bit. Nose Very floral notes. Lots of dried fruit/stone fruit. Dark chocolate. Proper wood malt burnt sugar and caramel. Palate Thick-bodied... Alcohol still present. Here also stone fruit, tannins, chocolate and many floral notes. Light caramel notes. Finish relatively dry and bitter...

Today we're on Borkum, time to test the first part of Daniel's awesome sharing. Many thanks for that. I agree with him here, it's too bitter for me too, which unfortunately means the roastiness and spiciness don't really come through.

10.07.2020 A nice tasting meeting new and old friends. Notes Medium to dark in colour. Nose Intense, fresh, balanced, complex, light wood, licorice, spice, light fruity. Palate Intense, warm, balanced, complex, wood, tannins, light earthy, fruity, light citrus, light mint. Finish Long and warm, wood, tannins, dried fruit, light tobacco, light licorice.

Very nice Bielle with dried fruits (apricot), spices, licorice, violets and compared to the also very good Rasta Morris bottling it brings a slightly bitter wood note. Especially in the finish. Also relatively little sweetness.

Rhum Bielle LMDW 2001 X-Tasting: A unique set that Daniel has dug up here. Over time, this rum becomes more and more complex, the aromas more intense. You can literally sit with the glass forever and discover new flavors! This one has a slightly spicier overall note. The alcohol is really perfectly integrated!

Big Bielle 2001 Cross-Tasting: noticeably more floral and flowery than its sister casks. Violets in particular, along with a slightly perfumed note & lemon peel. On the palate, it is already very strong and far from as mild as other 2001 representatives. Rather dirty, strong, spicy, and crisp. Various citrus peels, black and green pepper, mint and black tea, and a slightly charred cask note that brings both sweetness and bitterness. Not my favorite from the series, though still very good!

Epic BIELLE 2001 Tasting. A great vintage, the set was consistently high quality. Only RX5741 and RX4918 were a bit too woody/bitter for me. There was a clear winner, the cask selected by Kirsch was for me the most intense and harmonious. Here was a perfect mix of wood, fruit and spices. The blend is also great, but at 45% it suffers a bit weakly on the palate. Overall I think it's the highest quality set I've tasted and I believe you'll never get this again.

Great Bielle 2001 cross-tasting: Not quite among the best

It has a beautiful dark and shiny color, on the nose it is deep and warm with barrel, light leather/toast, a fine note of tobacco, then citrus essential oils and a sweet note of dried fruits and caramel. On the palate it is full-bodied and sticky with warm barrel notes, roasted, a bit aged, wrapped in a dense sweetness alternating with a dry/dry and slightly tannic side, with dried fruit, floral and again tobacco on the medium-long finish. All very round and balanced with an excellently integrated ABV. In the empty glass sauna wood and aged notes. I preferred cask #4 53.1% which I found more complex and deep, curious to try cask #63 as well. Thanks to SaibotZtar for the split! Oscillates between 9 and 9.1 depending on the state of the mouth.

I could drink this all the time. Beautiful chestnut colour, heavy fruit notes in the aroma, wood slightly leathery. On the palate, the heavy fruit notes are joined by wine/cognac, tobacco, leather again, and towards the end comes a serving of mint and black pepper that lingers very long on the palate. Why do I only have a sample? 🥲
