Very different from the 12y old one from our rum & spirits. Unfortunately, it doesn't appeal to me so much... Alcohol is unfortunately very concise and dominant.

05.08.2022 A nice afternoon with other rum geeks and an evening visiting a few bars. Notres Dark in colour. Nose Well rounded, light wood, fruits, cinnamon, light mint, light caramel, plum, faint leather. Palate Oily, round, fruits, light banana, light cinnamon, round, wood, light caramel, prunes, faint mint. Finish Medium to long, wood, light roasted, faint tannins, fruits, dried fruit, light caramel, naturally sweet.

A nice Rum, surprising me. Unfortunately it is not clear what Mark was used, it is noted as column still, but the result is quite intense with flavours and smooth at the same time. There may be a bit added sugar, but I am not sure. Quite balanced (at least to me), but I also gave this a long time to breathe. Very fruity and not much bitterness.

In comparison today, the two bottlings from Our Rum&Spirits. Both from Guyana from 2003. In conclusion, I have to say that I like the one aged 1 year longer a lot better. The younger one seems more unbalanced. Both are okay. But unfortunately not top class for me.

Slightly weaker compared to the RX1891. I miss the fruit flavors on the palate. The finish is also much shorter. Nonetheless, a great PLV which is unfortunately hard to find in new bottlings. I started way too late to get great rums at affordable prices.

I have this 13yo 2003 Diamond from ORS together with the 14yo ORS and the new 2003 Diamond from Elizabeth Yard in the glass. The rums have a very similar profile, the EY has the most intense start. This 13yo ORS is sweeter and fresher than the EY, the roasted aromas not quite as present as with the EY. The citrus fruit is more lemony, the berries more restrained, but with a hint of vanilla, the cocoa is more chocolatey. The mouth is surprisingly intense, unfortunately the alcohol is felt with a bit of bite. The fruits remain surprisingly fresh, with distinct acidity, besides the citrus fruits there are also raspberries and the known roasted aromas from the caramel coloring. The finish is not too bitter, roasted aromas and the sour fruit remain. The rum is already good and without faults, but I find the profile overall not so exciting, it is rather a simple column still distillate. The order tonight is clear: The Elizabeth Yard, although not a Port Mourant, is a very good representative from the batch. The 13yo from ORS is the second best of this session, the 14yo unfortunately can't keep up.

Today for my 40th birthday there is a delicious rum from Guyana. Alcohol content of 63.7 percent. These are very well integrated. Very woody on the nose. Towards oak. This is also reflected in the taste. Very tasty.

Heavy sweetness meets roasted nuts, smoke and bitter wood notes and fresh citrus notes. I like it a lot and it proved to be a top PLV at the issue price.

Very similar to RX1891: Nice Guyana with reasonable price-performance ratio. Dark notes dominate, wood, leather. The whole leaves a feeling of heaviness in the mouth, you feel like you have to chew the rum. What the rum lacks is depth, finesse or excitement. Alcohol could be better integrated. Overall a solid Guyana, but not one that will stay in my memory.

My RumRatings review from 5 years ago: Both rums have a pleasantly strong caramel nose. Vanilla and honey come through. Oak wood notes resonate. But also ripe fruits like mango and orange. Overall, the 14-year-old is a bit stronger, but only noticeable in direct comparison. The smell is very similar. I find the rum very tasty on the nose. The longer it stands, the more complex it becomes. Absolutely top. On the palate, the caramel note dominates. Vanilla is clearly noticeable. Tropical fruit is clearly present. The high alcohol distributes the aromas very well and doesn’t linger on the tongue. Besides the wood, there is also some spice like cinnamon. With a few drops of water, the rum becomes more complex on the tip of the tongue. Pastry spices and also some leather are now perceptible. The finish is accompanied by a sweet residual note of wood and also bitterness. But it lacks the certain extra that you expect when drinking and then is not quite fulfilled. The Guyana rum from Our Rum is high quality and the cask strength is a lot of fun. The finish could be more complex and despite the high alcohol content it is a bit too gentle. Both rums are very similar. The 14-year-old is a bit stronger, the 13-year-old reacted more complexly to the water. Therefore one review for both. My first Guyana and it was already really good. But there are definitely better or more complex bottlings.

Very light nose. Almost unremarkable. Slight adhesives. Intense medicinal taste. This guy packs a punch. Also lingers very long in the aftertaste. Really a tough guy.
