Caramel and dried dates lead here, with cherry and a woody backbone that keeps it from tipping into candy. At 40% it's soft and rounded — one taster clocked "caramelized apple, roasted nuts, oak and light mocha," which sums up the mellow, dessert-leaning character. A Dominican solera in the classic Oliver & Oliver mould: polished, easy, made for after dinner rather than for picking apart.

Read full review ›Exquisito 1990 was the first one I bought from them, so I could have some rum from my birth year. And since I really liked it, I had to buy the other two as well. It's true that almost all rums from Oliver & Oliver are a safe bet.
