This 2003 sits on the lighter, more elegant side than some siblings, with the column-still 55.4% well tucked in. Give it time in the glass; a few tasters found it opens from "naja to sehr gut."

RumX Advent Calendar Day 13 Typical T.D.L characteristics recognizable from the start. In my opinion, it needs quite a while in the glass before it develops from well to very good. At first I was a little disappointed, but time has fixed it. Delicious piece. Thanks again for another rum that is very fine.

Wonderful TDL (generic stuff? Yes, luckily it fits into this quality) I like the profile, mint, menthol 👌🏼 But combined with nice fruit like lychee and cherry, as well as other fruits. Interesting that some TDL have a slight to strong cannabis note, also (very lightly) here.

Intense and complex on the nose. Plenty of fruits - I get white grapes and lychee - as well as hints of mint and herbs. Very nice! On the palate this is definitely on the lighter end of the range. Yet it is intense and tasty with mint, herbs and some fruits. Just not as dark and tea like compared to other bottlings. I like this one quite a bit.

Small TDL (blind) cross-tasting with various vintages: Last place 6: Dram Mor TDL 2007. Overall flat and boring, rather Spanish style. Place 5: FRC TDL 2002. Lots of cannabis, beer and hops. You have to be into that and want it. I liked the nose better than the palate. Place 4: FRC TDL 2009. Restrained mint, lots of spices and cask influence. Place 3: Single Cask Nation TDL 2003: Overall lots of mint and menthol, slightly floral/planty. Very good 2003 TDL, not quite on the level of the Ricci in comparison. Place 2: Spiritori TDL 2008. By far the dirtiest TDL in the tasting. Really good value for money! Place 1: Ricci TDL 2003: Mint, fruits and nicely intense and complex. Edit: Also really good at the 2nd tasting. A real mint bomb!! Edit: After the 3rd tasting still very good and quite present mint notes, slightly floral. Good 2003 TDL, but not quite top tier.

8,7:On the nose, the first impression we get is medicinal with some rubber, menthol, flowery with strong elderflower, slightly fruity with grapes and grapefruit, yellow fruits with peaches and woody. On aeration, stronger fruits notes pop out like litchi, pineapple, green fruits, later citrus with perhaps bergamot.The wood is spicy and roasted with nuts, pastry, as a minty molasses helps with tea, licorice, herbaceous tones. 8,8:On the palate, the attack is fruity, flowery with dried figs, raisins, apricots, banana, pepper, roasted, smoky wood notes with nuts, leather, dark chocolate, a bit tannic, there is some menthol. Resting the rum helps with herbaceous, vegetal molasses, minty, black tea, tobacco, sweet with honey.Some new fruit notes arise like green fruits, citrus with bergamot, prunes. 8,6:The finish is long, a bit imbalanced with dry, tannic notes, most of the palate tones linger on, we catch some new ones with passion fruit, cherry, pineapple, crunchy bread... 29.01.2022 Going through some samples at home. Notes Medium dark in colour. Nose Fresh, medium intense, fruity, cherry, light floral, faint nutts, light wood. Palate Balanced, light wood, faint smoke, honey, fruity, light cherry, faint peach, medium dry. Finish Medium long, light oily, fruits, raisin, faint honey, light floral.

On the nose there are dirty notes, alongside yellow fruits such as mango and passion fruit, caramel and a little menthol in the background. Also relatively fruity on the palate, rather tart on the back with barrel and tannins. A good 2003, which reminds me more of the Excellence Rhum bottling than the Whisky Jury

Dieser T.D.L ist extrem süffig bei hervorragender Qualität. An der Nase die typischen Menthol-/Minzaromen gepaart mit intensiven gelben Früchten. Am Gaumen verteilt er sich cremig und weich. Umspielt die Zunge mit einer mentholigen Süsse, der dann etwas Frucht und später Gewürze folgen. Der Alkohol ist perfekt eingebunden. Im Abgang dann wieder Minze und Würze im ausgewogenem Verhältnis. Ein weiterer Top 2003er T.D.L

This one is quite a treat. Nice grape juice on the nose with some flowers, distant coffee. On palate even more flowers but with dried fruit, some smoke and coffee, subsequent sips add intense menthol and spiciness. Overall feels not that concentrated, potentially missing a tropical aging, also medium finish at best. Overall very happy I got to buy a bottle.

Auch das ist wieder eine schöne 2003er T.D.L Abfüllung. Wie eigentlich alle die ich bislang im Glas hatte. Wieder ganz viel Minze, würzig, fruchtig, dreckig. Aber auch minimal dünner als z.B The Whisky Jury.

Ein sehr feiner T.D.L, eher von der eleganten Seite mit vielen Früchten wie Pfirsichen, Lychees und Weinbeeren sowie einer erfrischenden Minztee-Komponente. Dabei ist der Rum mit etwas geringerem Fasseinfluss ausgebaut als andere 2003er, die ich im Glas hatte, und dadurch frei von lackiertem Holz und den manchmal zu findenden dreckig-teerigen Noten.

#24DaysOfRum2023 - Day 13 As expected from a TDL’03, the nose opens with a cooling sensation of eucalyptus leaves and crushed mint. It’s heavily aromatised with herbs, spices and flowers. Notes of pine tree bark, conifer and a little bit of clove. The heart reveals playful fruity notes of gooseberry and lemon juice. A rather sharp sensation tamed by sweet marzipan. Only at the very end you get some dirty diesel notes. Tip: do not agitate this rum too much. Let it rest then nose it sitting still. More robust on the palate. Continues very cool, but less zingy, more oily and with darker sugars. At the top still a ‘woodland sensation’ enriched with herbs and flowers. But dirtier than the nose suggested, perhaps even with a slight hint of smoke. The finish is in line with the rest of the experience; remains quite complex and medium in length. Wonderful experience.

A very straightforward, accessible TDL. The dilution is clearly noticeable (especially in direct comparison) but well adjusted. Although thinner, it feels very fitting. Very good drinking strength. More of a light version compared to other releases, but definitely meant positively. Has its charm.

The mint quickly brings you to TDL, but here there are many floral nuances in the taste that remind me more of Agricole. Mainly yellow fruity, this rum has a not too strong but very pleasant profile.

Calendar #13 / not blind Initially I was greeted with intense alcohol which vanished after a while. So take things slow and give it some time, it will develop and open up really nice in your glass. In Addition to the notes on top of this comment I really liked the distinguished taste of maraschino cherries. This being the cherry on top of the cake…here, have my 9.0. One of my favourites in the calendar so far and definitely worth seeking out a bottle. Anyone got a spare?

The nose strangely reminds me of a Calvados. It's fruity and floral. On the palate, no doubt, we are on the TDL side. The mentholated mouthfeel is characteristic. Huge length on the palate. It's warm and woody. Really nice!

RumX Advent calendar 13.12.23: Today, in my opinion, it's Trinidad. All markers of the early 2000s TDL vintages are there, especially of course the mint. Still, the rum doesn't seem like a particularly brutal representative, so it could be 2001 but also 2002 or 2003. Compared to, for example, the Rasta Morris, the intensity comes across less brutally, so I guess <60%.

Insanely delicious thing with juicy peach at the start and endless mint in the finish. I love this profile and this rum is an excellent representative of it. The only thing you might criticize is that besides peach and mint in your face, it isn't particularly complex. But it doesn't have to be for me if it's just so amazingly tasty.
