Rum Nation Worthy Park Jamaica 5 Years Old Oloroso Sherry Finish 2016
Ripe banana, glue and nail polish on the nose, then a heavier, woodier palate than that funky start suggests. The Oloroso finish brings raisin, dark chocolate and dried fruit, but plenty of tasters find the wood and the 50% a bit rough for five years. Several add a note: a drop of water thins it out fast, so most sip it as is.

Aggregated from 139 community reviews.
Funky banana nose, woody sherry-finished bite Well-liked Worthy Park at a friendly price. The nose charms with banana funk; the palate turns woody and hot, and the sherry splits people — some love the raisin, others miss the WP character.

8,2:On the nose it points directly to Jamaica, with lots of very ripe banana. There's the funky influence of pot still distillation, fresh that balances well with the banana. There's also something medicinal, like pine thorns oozing resin. There is some candied cherry, spices such as curry or caraway seeds come in, then more vegetal notes, with hay and lemongrass, flowery. On aeration, the banana is more is adorned with wood and spice, as well as a vegetal, licorice.Various plants and herbs maintain the medicinal side of this rum, pine sap and also a little cherry pit. Some tea, brioche yeast and honey follow as well as a pastry, marzipan. 8,3:On the palate, the attack is powerful, with smoky notes, spicy. There are metallic tones, cocoa and black licorice. The banana is ripe, perhaps. The currants contribute to this impression, which is darker and deeper than the nose would suggest, besides that, some citrus fruits pop out and salted pastry. 8:The finish is medium long, dry, there are sweet spices, medicinal notes, grassy molasses, banana lingers on...

Too sharp. Very molasses-like smell

A rum that seems good, especially considering its price. Fruity as can be, balanced even if it has no depth. But add a drop of water and it loses a lot of flavor. Too bad and a big kudos to the blender for making the best of what he had. Perfect ABV. Tasted again and still disappointing.

One of the best rums in its price range. Definitely a good rum and I can only recommend it.

A pleasant Worthy Park. But the olorosso finish isn't my thing. Edit: new tasting via a new sample. My first rating was a bit harsh but I'm still not seduced. This is a Worthy Park with too much alcohol and not much room for the usual WP markers. The sherry cask finish adds a touch of grape, which I personally have a lot of trouble with. Not for me.

5 YO Worthy Park at 50% abv matured first in Jamaica for 15 to 18 mths and then in Italy in Oloroso & Pedro Ximenez casks. This one is really heavy in the taste. Nose is nice, typical funky Jamaica but the taste is more robust than the nose. Lot of funk/esters along with fruity aroma in the nose but palate gives more woody and heavy full bodied taste of Jamaican rum. Lots of wood in the aftertaste that is super long. Not sure about this piece after first 4 cl. Have to give it another go. So far I have mixed feelings as I really like the nose but taste is kind of too heavy due to its strong ,,sheriff woody,, taste. I would go with 72/100 for a start. I think we will get along just fine as soon as I will get used to that strong woody taste. Let me know what do you think. Retaste: Nice rum but very raw and rough probably due to its age. I had younger but they were not as sharp as this one, therefore I am pulling down my original rating. Retaste 30.4.2023 I have to say that Oloroso finish is giving it a rounder sweeter character. Just a side note I am tasting it after Smith&Cross which is chilly/peppery and this one is better and more complex in taste. I like the nose of S&C more though. The Oloroso gives it more chocolate and creamy feel to it. Still you can sense a hell lot of Jamaica and woody, fruity notes. Nice rum that I appreciated fully only later when I tasted more and more rums.

Absolut solider jamaicaner!

Amazingly good! Fantastic price-performance ratio. You can clearly taste Worthy Park, the PX finish is not superficial and very well integrated!

Not a typical Worthy Park in terms of taste. Reminds me more of a regular Appleton

Price very interesting and quite tasty, but not a particularly great Jamaican. But should not be missing in a collection.

Nose: medium intensity. Lot of yellow fruits: banana, mango, dry apricots. Some esters, glue & nail polish. Little bit of nuts, yellow flowers, some biscuits & ginger. Good ! Taste: Bright & sweet. Lot of tropical fruits, ginger, mandarin. Medium spicy, woody. Little bit of esters, plastic & syrup. Typical :) Aftertaste: long & sweet. Lot of yellow fruits, some flowers, esters. Some leather, mandarin, spices. Little bit perfume. Average: really good rum for everyday. Super tasty & quite cheap. Love this one.

Very nice. Jamaica funch and complex sweetness with tropical fruits. Think the wood and char is not doing anything good for the end result. Not ruining it, but to much for me. To much barrel and to little sherry in that Olerosso. But it does bring some nice darker spicy notes to the party.

Odeur et goût assez prononcés de bonbon/médicament à la banane.la bouche est un peu plus complexe que le nez avec les épices et le fut. La texture reste douce et facile. Pas mal foutu mais assez écoeurant

Rum Nation Jamaica 5 years 50°. Nose👃: ⭐⭐⭐⭐/5 - The 50° is good, the alcohol well integrated. - Pep on acid notes (bitter orange, balsamic note). - Tropical yellow fruit (banana above all, and a little pineapple). - Light, greedy woodiness with a buttery caramel aspect. - Roasted nuts with caramel. Empyreumatic: dark chocolate, smoky, metallic (coppery). - Esters, varnished wood. - Medicinal Mouth👄: ⭐⭐⭐/5 - Soft attack for 50° and concentrated on: Yellow tropical fruits (banana mix, ripe pineapple, and other tropical fruits) and esters. - Dark" aspect on esters and empyreumatic notes (dark chocolate with bitter orange, a slightly smoky and metallic/copper aspect). - Medicinal - Virtually absent oak, but which nonetheless brings roundness, harmony and deliciousness (light buttered caramel). - Toasted nuts - Still young (5 years) for a Jamaican: would have deserved to be pushed to 7 years. Finish🔚: ⭐⭐⭐/5 Medium to long on empyreumatic (bitter dark chocolate with orange, metallic/copper, a little smoky) and acidic tropical fruit.
