Poured neat it reads as a mild, ripe-banana Jamaican with caramel and light barrel spice, but most tasters agree the palate thins out and the 40% shows through. A blend of Worthy Park, Hampden and Monymusk that hints at ester funk without ever hitting hard. The smell of overripe bananas is very dominant, in the taste the banana is there but clearly less present. Here fig and chocolate come in. At the end, a bit of earth/soil. Absolutely great for the price.

The Navy Island Jamaican Rum XO is a blend of pot and column still rums from Worthy Park, Hampden and Moneymusk. The rum is named after Navy Island, a small tropical island near the coast of Jamaica once owned by Errol Flynn. It’s matured in ex bourbon casks and bottled at just 40% ABV.

17.05.2019 Nice get together at my place with nice spread of rums. Notes Medium dark in colour. Nose Light, sweet, light roasted wood, light earthy, banana, light caramel. Palate Light, wood, light roasted, fruity, sweet, light nutts, faint chocolate, faint grass, light tobacco, citrus. Finish Medium long, light, sweet, oily, light wood, citrus, faint chocolate, light caramel, vanilla.

JoA there are better but also worse ones. A few esters are recognizable and there is also a clear fruity note. Unfortunately, the product is very watered down. Absolutely thin. A few percent more could really have made this blend much better

7,5:The nose, well balanced, opens with a beautiful, extremely ripe banana. The rum is slightly coppery and above all brioche-like, with long ribbons of ripe exotic fruit.We could say Worthy Park like. Airing brings milk chocolate, a creamy texture and pastry aromas. Cherries are followed by black tea and dried banana. 7,5:The palate is very smooth, a typically Jamaican rum, gourmet with honey pastry and brioche flavors (prunes, candied fruit, custard, cherry, malted cereals). 7,4:The finish is pretty long, with flambéed, dried banana, accompanied by a sweet pineapple juice, little spicy.

Now there's an old hat. I already drank this rum two years ago. Back then I rated it 8.0. Now I've downgraded it a bit; it's a little too sweet for me and there are definitely better ones. Very fruity on the nose and especially peach stands out in the taste.

Surprised in a good way by this product. I thought I would come across a sweetened and spiced mass-market rum. It's not like that at all. It's a blend from renowned Jamaican distilleries. It's nicely rounded around exotic fruitiness, a soft toasted woodiness, and very slight smoky notes and esters.

Nose starts with a very intense grain/barley note to it. After some time in the Glas it is dominated by the WP component somewhat fighting with sour Hampden pineapples in my mind. Taste is very sweet and vanilla forwards. Some wood and only the lightest hint of fruits.

Very sharp and metallic on the nose despite drinking strength. On the palate rather thin and diluted, unfortunately hardly any fruit, hardly any funk, mostly just barrel, tannins, minimal pear and banana and metallic, and not good to drink. Absolutely does not convince me.

Typical Jamaican. Tropical-fruity on the nose. On the palate, banana, vanilla, and grain. Neat it's okay, nothing more, nothing less. Great for tropical cocktails. Good value for money.

Got this rum as a sample from 24 days of rum advent calendat. And it was is an interesting blend of WP, Hampden and Monymusk. On nose, I felt a typical Hampden, esters cannot be denied by any means. On palate, this one loses the score and it is a bit sharp in the finish, but nevertheless this is an interesting blend.

The rum has a light golden hue. A strong oily sweet smell, heavy, very pleasant. The taste is quite sweet, the body is rather light, tasting somewhat of pastry. A very tasty drop...

On the nose, there is a big load of ripe banana. Reminds me of a liqueur. Slight spice in the background, I like it! Unfortunately, the taste falls short. Simply too thin. But certainly a good Jamaica entry.

Did not like it at all, too much thin banana, nothing more. I used it for mixing, 50/50 with Myers's DARK. That made it a bit more biting.

Coming back to this one after a few years and I must say that I am very disappointed. Coming back from the DOK's and TECC's I have to say this is very very faint on both taste as well as nose. I just wish it would be less diluted and more prominent on the flavours overall, but hey maybe it's stronger counter part.

Sweet caramel aroma with pineapple and marzipan. Taste-wise it's not a disaster, but it's slightly on the edge where I'd say it's some cheap alcohol. You can tell it's unripe. Finish quite nice with a combination of molasses and marzipan, pineapple and pear.

Where the nose is still somewhat okay, it unfortunately falls short in taste and finish. Much too thin and watered down. It might only be worthwhile on hot summer days and/or in drinks.

Delicious rum, with a nice aroma of tropical fruits and banana on the nose. It smells a bit like varnish/glue. A true pleasure on the palate. A bit of funk/ester notes. Barrel flavour combined with tannins. The finish is medium-length, where you can find the tropical fruits as well as banana again. For me, a successful product.

This blend of several Jamaican rums impresses with its power and complexity. Spicy notes go hand in hand with vanilla and caramel notes. Nuances of dried fruits are present both in the aroma and the taste.

Beautiful golden rum that doesn’t quite excite me by smell. Banana comes through most clearly to me alongside a bit of lacquer. Much more pleasant on the palate, again banana dominates, then some fruity note, maybe pineapple. At the very end pear. Overall pleasant sweetness.

Very, very, very light Jamaica in aroma and taste. The Jamaican roots are very easily recognizable, suitable for a beginner who has no experience with Jamaican rums. The finish is rather shorter and again light.

Nose only opens after a good half hour of airing. At first there is only a smell of low-grade alcohol with a bit of hydrocarbon. After a good half hour there is still a hydrocarbon smell but iron notes close to copper are added with a bit of banana. On the palate it is astringent, the alcohol is very rough and there are very few indulgent notes, if you look hard there is a bit of banana but it is really insignificant. Just like this rum which brings nothing more in the finish for me.

This rum is a blend with 40% from three different Jamaican distilleries, aged long (XO). The alcohol tastes stronger than expected and the aromas get a bit lost because of it. You could say it is a bit thin. Conclusion: I wouldn't even use it for mixing because the taste is too weak. For drinking neat, it is simply too bad.

On the nose, definitely Jamaica funk with ester notes and tropical fruits. Then vanilla and a pleasantly soft, fruity direction. On the palate, rather round and approachable, with pineapple, some ripe fruit, and a nice, light sweetness in the background. The alcohol is well integrated but not quite as present as in the Navy Strength. A pleasant, harmonious rum for people who aren't yet very familiar with Jamaica.

Great introduction to Jamaican rums without overwhelming beginners with extreme funk. Especially the nose really stands out - banana, vanilla, caramel. The smell even gives me slight baked apple with marzipan vibes. On the palate, it's noticeably weaker - fruit, spice, and butterscotch notes. Overall a great rum, especially for the price-performance ratio.

Fans of sweet rums and elixirs might not be completely satisfied this time, but the rum is well-made and pleasantly flavorful. You can sense a light spiciness and sharpness, but it pairs well with a subtle vanilla aroma and fruity taste.
