What surprises people first is the roasted coffee and chocolate on the nose — one taster nailed it as chocolate shavings on a cappuccino. Underneath sits classic dry Cuban character: vanilla, oak, tobacco, a light peppery finish. Several found it a touch thin and watery at 40%, but the flavors work together and the mouthfeel holds up better than the strength suggests.

3rd time returning for a final crack at reviewing this one. Perhaps that speaks to it's complexity, I'm not sure. A fair amount is conjured on the neatly rounded nose. That first burst to me smells like chocolate shavings on a cappuccino. As my nose adjusts I then get a waft of fruits, treacle tart and more familiar Cuban beats of wood and earth. The taste profile condenses the nose and ups the spice, staying rounded if a little bittersweet (through the nuts and apricot) for my preference. The finish leaves me with a satisfying urge to pick nut particles from between my teeth. It cost ~£47 here in Cymru, ordered from The Whiskey Exchange, and it probably justifies that, though I can't fully commit to stock up on it after every empty bottle at that price point.

Pub The Rumah Rotterdam April 2026. This rum is so-so, actually my profile since it is quite roasted. It is also relatively woody, vanilla, caramel, coffee, and chocolate are also recognizable, but this rum is too thin.

Light and a little underpowered, but with a pleasant flavour. Spice, orange peel. Mouthfeel is better than expected at 40%, but no one would mistake it for something heavier.

Classic Cuban with typical vanilla and caramel notes, plus pleasant woody-oaky barrel notes. Less characteristic than Havana (7). Light, mild sweetness, slightly peppery finish. Good! Drinks: - Neat: 4/5 - Rum Fashioned: 4/5 - Rum Cola: 4/5 - Rum Mule: 3.5/5
