This rum is a good beginners rum because it's light and sweet at the sweet at the same time. You can also use it for deserts or baking in my mind. The nose is sweet and fruity with spice and caramel as well as a light flowery note. The palate is also sweet and fruity with an oily feel to it and very light bitterness in the back. Caramel and vanilla are trailing behind. There is a light bitterness in the back, but barely noticeable. The finish is medium long, sweet and fruity with vanilla.

A real sugar bomb can best describe this one. On the other hand, it might be interesting for newcomers and ladies. A lot of artificial citruses in nose and tones of sugar on palate. However, I have to admit I like the art on their tubas which made iconic and got Philippines to the rum map.

DP 7y is like Bayern Munich, you either love it or hate it ;-) I like DP 7y, but today you have to say the old DP 7y, nowadays there is the Small Batch and the Single Island, the latter I don't know yet. The Baroko is supposed to replace the old DP 7y, which due to the new sugar regulation is probably no real rum anymore. I like the old DP 7y, so I was very curious... and honestly disappointed. It tastes sweet, mild and... yeah what else, no idea, I hardly taste anything. Maybe I have corona or a cold but apart from sweet and mild there is not much. Still 80 stars because it is somehow good or I am too much of a DP fanboy. I know the DP 7y and 10y and the Baroko is definitely the weakest.

6,2:The nose is very sweet, orange and vanilla. Like an oriental confection, the rum caresses the nostrils with a pinch of powdered sugar. One might think of a strawberry- or rosewater-flavored Turkish delight. The candied orange peel still contains some of its slightly bitter oil, which adds a little more depth. Aeration confirms and reinforces the sensation of roundness. The candy sugar is melted and takes on the air of barley sugar. It's also reminiscent of the first bite of strawberry gum. 5.8:The palate is soft, fluid and quite sweet. The confectionery and bubblegum ambience remains, though one might have expected a stickier texture. The vanilla glides slowly over the tongue, the orange is in tune and forgets any hint of bitterness. On the other hand, a slight spicy, peppery note lifts the whole. 5,7:The finish is very sweet, with strawberry, banana and orange in confectionery form.

Orange orange orange! The nose is all orange flavours with vanilla and butterscotch. The taste is just more of the same, oranges! But also spices and woody notes from the barrels. This is fine as a sipper if you want a rum that really tastes like oranges, almost like cointreau. The standard Don Papa is less spicy. I prefer the Baroko variant with more taste.

Nose: artificial, sweet and confectionery. Palate: citrus fruits, orange, spicy but also vanilla and an artificial note. Conclusion: Typical Don Papa. Very intense, exaggerated expression of the aromas, although not quite as sweet as the 7YO.

Oh my god.... I don't have the words. This is the kind of juice that makes Smecta look like a 1978 Skeldon. The nose is infamous, it oozes artificial, industrial flavors. It's a kind of orange-flavored glucose concentrate with hints of caramel that make you nauseous (and I'm not even kidding when I say that). The palate confirms that this is the equivalent of a satanic suppository: a liquorous, foul, synthetic drink. You feel like you're drinking a drug. It's disgusting, and I'm not even sure it's a good rum for making pancakes. It's the kind of rum that makes me think it needs to be rated even lower than "undrinkable". The finish is unpleasant and artificial, lingering on the palate to my dismay. This "stuff" is a disgrace, a filth and probably one of the worst inventions of Humanity. Drink this doctored, mutagenic juice and you'll get diabetes and cancer. By far the worst rum I've ever tasted, it deserves to be burnt at the stake.

Rarely had something so artificial in the glass. Now only used for coffee and ristretto to save on sugar. In summary, I don't like this overly sweetened stuff at all anymore. Mercilessly over-sweetened and the taste is just artificial to me.

Abszolút az édes rum kategória, de abban talán még nem a cuppogos bumbu szint, annál kissé szárazabb de így is számomra túl édes, én nem tudok belőle sokat inni. Maga a rum íz jegyek azért sokkal szebben kijönnek mint egyéb édes társai. Ha édes rumokat szereted biztos kedvenc lesz, nekem marad egy desszert mellé maximum :)

After tasting it again, I have to significantly lower my rating. The initial aroma is still quite pleasant until you notice the artificial flavors. On the palate, this becomes even more intense, and the artificial sweetness takes over any enjoyment. But it's good as a mixer.

What I tasted today is not the more famous "Don Papa Baroko aged in oak" but the "Don Papa Baroko vibrantly tropical" which I assure you is slightly different (I've tasted both). It's the rum with the best smell I've ever drunk. Very fruity and floral.

That was my seventh Don Papa and now I've had enough. Basically, I am of the opinion that you have to make yourself a picture to be able to judge. For me, of the tasted spirits with rum ambitions, the Rye Cask was still the most drinkable bottling. The Baroko in front of me just smells and tastes like artificial orange flavoring, as used in baking, and Wrigley's Juicy Fruit chewing gum. Followers of this brand and effect drinkers may find their undemanding heaven here, but for me it is definitely nothing.

Just this much, anyone who likes drinking Don Papa has never loved rum. Nothing about it has anything to do with the rum product. I've never had anything more artificial in my glass. The only reason I'm giving it points is because the label is very nice.

As a beginner I do tend to like sweeter rums,however this one is over the line (I won’t go into the battle now what the description is for rum,if the rules are loose after all these decades I am not the right person to do so anyway) Very fruity/orange,vanilla,extra sweet and light. Won’t buy a bottle,bottom of the line.

Unfortunately not recommended at all. Way too sweet. The aromas are just artificial and not very harmonious and only enjoyable with huge amounts of sugar. The only advantage is that due to the high sugar content it doesn't burn.

Strong vanilla on the tip of the nose which changes into tangerine when you breath in closely. Taste: predominant tangerine with notes of vanilla, very sweet. A very exotic and extravagant rum. Very pleasant for sipping with a nice cigar or with a desert.

Smooth one from Don Papa 😉Veeeery sweeeet (not my favourite part 🤷♂️), most of it coming from vanilla I guess ... Some gentle oaky and caramelly nudge as well ☝️Short synthetic finish - could be different for my personal taste ... It is ok neat but it would maybe make more sense to put it in a cocktail 🤔 Or... Have it as a after lunch/dinner dessert 😉 Thank me later 🤭

If you’ve already approached rum a bit, this one is really tough. A conspiracy of artificial notes and exaggerated sweetness. I’d even doubt this product in cake. Nobody needs it!

Very opulent sweet spicy and dry citrus notes, first on the nose then on the palate with a strong alcoholic note that fits very well. Unfortunately, the finish is way too short and only the alcohol remains. But very interesting nose and palate play.

Don Papa Barokko was one of my first rums, now I had the chance to try it again. Once you've tried other rums and are further along the journey, you don't like it anymore. The smell and taste are just artificial. I'm out.
