Despite the 15-year age, this stays firmly in soft, sweet Panama territory — vanilla, caramel and toffee up front, with raisin and a little spice behind. Several tasters catch a light roasted, smoky edge and plum; one sums it up as "orange, raisin, vanilla and apple." Many call it their first rum love, though a fair few now find it a touch too sweet and simple.

A great fruity rum. Smoky notes with caramel and vanilla. I like it slightly better than the 10-year-old, as it is even softer and smokier. Has a nice balance and complexity. absolutely recommendable👍

Ich bekomme hauptsächlich Honig, karamellisiert und direkt in der Nase schon süß. Für den Honig-Geschmack leider etwas zu dünn und auch recht alkoholischer Abgang, geht so.. Drinks: - Pur: 3/5

Im Vergleich zum 10 jährigen deutlich weniger rauchig röstig. Dafür etwas runder, sanfter umd mkt fruchtigen Anklängen. Hervorragend in der Cola, würde den 10 aber besonders des Preises wegen bevorzugen

A Malteco laid the foundation for my passion for rum. I still enjoy drinking it here and there, but no longer with the same euphoria as a few years ago. For me, it's still the perfect starter rum. Slight sweetness, raisins, spiciness, barrel aromas, slightly alcoholic and simply drinkable.

Malteco Tasting (15, 20, 25 Jahre) An der Nase zeigen sich wie auch bei den beiden anderen deutliche Noten von Vanille und Karamell. Bei diesem jedoch am geringsten ausgeprägt. Dafür zeigt sich eine Buchenholznoten die an frisches Brennholz erinnert. Geschmacklich zeigt sich was man zuvor bereits im Geruch wahrnehmen konnte. Karamell und Vanille mit einer gewissen Süße von Honig. Jedoch wirkt er etwas dünn, da der Körper recht schwach ist. Je länger er im Glas ist desto mehr nehmen die Honignoten zu und verdrängen Vanille und Karamell. Von den drei Malteco's würde ich diesen als am wenigsten süß beschreiben. Trotzdem gefällt mir der 20 er im Vergleich besser da er mehr Aroma bietet.

I enjoyed this Malteco, a little more intense than the 10 years with a decent profile, overly pleasant and tasty. Can be used for good sipping at a reasonable price. Still too sweet for me, but it's Spanish rum.

Meine RumRatings Review von vor 6 Jahren: Der Rum ist in der Nase karamellig und zeigt das er von der süßen Sorte ist. Der Geruch ist gefällig. Am Gaumen kommen die süßen karamelligen und auch vanilligen Aromen zur Geltung. Etwas tropische Frucht schwingt mit. Fass Noten sind kaum erkennbar. Der Alkohol wird beim Abgang merkbar. Etwas Kakao gesellt sich dazu bevor alles schnell vergeht und eine undefinierbaren Süße hinterlässt. Er schmeckt irgendwie dann doch gesüßt. Der Malteco 15 ist kein schlechter Rum hat aber klare Grenzen, wenn man schon hochwertigere Rums kennt. Da gibt es für etwas mehr Geld schon spannendere Rums. Aber Preis Leistung stimmt hier voll und Leute die gerne Zacapa trinken sollten sich lieber zwei Flaschen hier von kaufen. Für Einsteiger klar zu empfehlen. Da macht man nicht viel falsch.

15 years old is more heavier version of 10 and 5 more years giving this rum more complex, floral and little less vanilla flavour which caused more enjoyable taste. For it's price it's really good rum, but be avare, that this one is still with strong vanilla taste and smell.

The Malteco has a roasted smoky note and in my opinion is good for both beginners and advanced rum lovers. I taste a fine note of fruit both in the flavor and in the finish as well as fresh tobacco. All in all a good rum.

A very citrus-fruit-heavy rum with a decent sweetness. Quite alcoholic for 40%. Refreshing and spicy. Overall a typical representative of the Spanish style. For me, a bit too sweet.

After trying several rums, the Ron Malteco 15 years has become my current favorite. It features a light pleasant sweetness that is not overpowering. Every time I drink it, I discover a new facet. Sometimes more toffee or chocolate, sometimes caramel or vanilla. It has a pleasant spice and is relatively mild, only a slight but pleasant sharpness that never feels alcoholic. For my taste, rather less fruity. But as always, it's a matter of taste. For me personally, a clear recommendation!
