Roasted wood and warm spice lead here, with dried apricot, mango and peach filling in behind, plus leather, mocha and a touch of licorice. This is an aged Marie-Galante agricole that leans dry, woody and complex rather than grassy — several tasters said it keeps opening up the longer it sits, and the 53.1% is worked in so well you barely feel it. One person even likened the profile to old Armagnac.

27.06.2020 Tasting at the office with my colleagues. Notes Medium dark in colour. Nose Light roasted wood, citrus, faint honey, floral, light caramel, light earthy. Palate Balanced, complex, floral, citrus, light chocolate, tobacco, spice, lightly dry. Finish Long, balanced, complex, wood, faint chocolate, citrus, dried fruit, light vegetal.

A nose full of depth and complexity. Nougat, licorice and then it goes towards ripe fruit (mango, peach). Complemented furche an earthy, musty note. Wood is there enough, of course, well integrated. Spicy. Some water makes it creamier.Woody in the mouth, paired with a complex blend of spices.A full, deep, long aged rum. The classic Bielle profile is recognizable.

Great Bielle 2001 Cross-Tasting: Once again a very good Bielle with a nice tropical cask influence that is not overwhelming. Also cherry, peach, nougat. In the empty glass, you can smell wonderful yellow fruits.

On the nose plenty of caramel/toffee, allspice, woody notes and dried apricot. On the palate nutmeg, licorice, caramel, old wooden barrel, mocha. Really good, round and at the same time complex Bielle! Many thanks for the sample to Vienna!

I actually like this one better than the previous one, even though it was rated worse, but this one is no longer bitter, instead very toasty and woody. On the nose, additionally leather and toastiness, on the palate a bit of caramel and honey.

Bielle 2001 No. 8... This bottling also leans towards the woody spicy side with subtle dried fruit aromas... the longer it stays in the glass, the more aromas it releases. The finish is long and intense.

Epic BIELLE 2001 tasting. A great vintage, the set was consistently high quality. Only RX5741 and RX4918 were a bit too woody/bitter for me. There was also a clear winner, the barrel selected by Kirsch was for me the most intense, most harmonious. Here was a perfect mix of wood, fruit and spices. The blend is also great, but at 45% it suffers a bit on the palate. Overall I think the highest quality set I've tasted and I believe you will never get it like this again.

Rhum Bielle LMDW 2001 X-Tasting: A unique set that Daniel dug up here. Over time, this rum becomes more and more complex, the aromas more intense. You can literally sit with the glass forever and discover new aromas! This one has a stronger mint note than the others, but less citrus. Alcohol perfectly integrated!

Another excellent Single Cask from Bielle from 2001. Aromatic reminiscences of Damoiseau are found again, but in this release the cask has again influenced the profile a bit more strongly. Besides the heavy fruits, expressive spice notes and floral nuances, the wood aromas appear somewhat more pronounced. My favorite among the known releases remains cask #2, but none of the other casks disappointed – on the contrary, the level is impressively high. An exquisite bottling.

Another candidate in the tasting for What the actual fuck?! Why is there another 180° turn aromatically with the same cask and similar specs?😄 Either way: awesome stuff. Dried mango, dark chocolate with lots of sea salt, a bit strong coffee and lots of freshly grated nutmeg, a bit of peach and vanilla. Overall clearly more "Spanish" and molasses-suspecting in character and overall a bit heavier and more powerful. Either way, awesome stuff!

On the nose it is rich, round and pleasant with charming aromas of red fruits, dried apricots, light leather and toast, some spices, a distant initial note of varnish/enamel, there is also something floral, warm honey and mocha. Really delicious! On the palate it is powerful and creamy with red fruits, cherries, floral, toasted, woody, with dried fruits (dates and apricots), light spices, a sweet background of nougat. All wrapped in exceptional roundness and with a nice persistent finish. In the empty glass slight aging and fruits. What a gem, thanks to Roberto.

Thanks Daniel for this killer split! All the rums seem to be at a very high level. I taste some fruit, especially orange, tannins and spices from the cask, a very light grassiness of the Agricole, and a hint of mint. The whole thing is rather dry, with low sweetness, which doesn't bother me though. Overall, the profile somewhat reminds me of old Armagnacs, in a positive way. Alcohol integration is great.

Quick: The bottle has been open for a long time, hard to be absolutely sure on the return but it's a very very beautiful rum. It's the first time I smell this on a Bielle, apart from the classic framework there's a slightly gamey musk on the nose..! It's quite green as well and very complex. Very long finish. Honestly, it's super good. A bit stiff in alcohol.
